When I posted these clips to Twitter, a reader replied that of course Rubio is a Reagan disciple. He supports amnesty, doesn’t he? Zing.
Fairly or not, a dynamic has developed within the grassroots right online that you can’t be pro-Trump and pro-Rubio. You can be pro-Trump and pro-Cruz because you think America needs a populist, because Washington is so sleazy that it needs to be cleansed with fire. You can be pro-Cruz and pro-Rubio because you think America needs a conservative, because Washington has moved so far left that only a hard push to the right can restore the country’s equilibrium. But you can’t be pro-Trump and pro-Rubio. They’re matter and anti-matter. Trump will deport the illegals, or so he says. Rubio would legalize many. Trump says what he thinks, no matter who he offends. Rubio is scripted and soft-spoken, and styles himself as a uniter. Trump wants to make nice with Putin and disdains nation-building. Rubio loathes Putin and favors aggressive interventionism. Trump represents “white identity politics.” Rubio represents diversifying the party. Up and down the line, substantively and stylistically, you find contrasts. Trump wants to make America great again; Rubio can’t tell you fast enough that he thinks America is the greatest country ever.
What makes these two Rush clips striking is that, for most of the past eight months, to the consternation of many anti-Trump listeners, he’s had nothing but warm words for Trump. Occasionally he’ll scold him for using McConnell-esque lines of attack on Cruz, like calling Cruz a maniac for clashing with other Senate Republicans, but much of the past year has been an exercise in mainstreaming Trump as a legitimate vessel of populist conservative anger despite his many, many prior heresies against conservatism. For most other grassroots righties, if you feel that way about Trump, chances are high that you also think Rubio’s an establishment RINO, an avatar of “business as usual” Republicanism whose Gang of Eight stain can never be scrubbed clean. Not Rush. On the contrary, listen below and you’ll find him blowing up that argument, which is at the absolute core of Trump’s and Cruz’s case against Rubio. Rush, almost singularly, is pro-Trump and pro-Rubio. Huh.
Notably, Rush was a little less pro-Trump than usual today:
And Donald Trump — I don’t know if you’ve forgotten — one thing that I remember is that he went out and again tried to criticize Cruz. Cruz here is the front-runner. Cruz is not the enemy. Hillary Clinton is the enemy. Ted Cruz is not “a nasty guy.” Ted Cruz is not a Canadian. Ted Cruz is none of that. He’s not mean-spirited. Ted Cruz doesn’t want anybody to die in the streets. Nobody’s gonna believe that, especially when you offer that criticism sounding as though it could come from Bernie Sanders.
In a Republican primary, you do not win if you’re going to sound like a liberal Democrat criticizing Ted Cruz. And it wasn’t just health care. How many of you remember (I pointed this out when it happened) Mr. Trump pointing out that you can’t do anything if you can’t make deals, can’t cooperate? Part of his criticism of Ted Cruz is he’s hated; nobody likes him. Trump said, “I can do deals with Harry Reid and Pelosi. I know these people. I like these people. Schumer? I can do deals.” No, no, no, no! We don’t want to do any more deals with these people. We want to beat those people. There are many things that harm Mr. Trump, but not showing up at the debate is not one of them.
As nasty as the Trump/Cruz war in Iowa was this month, both between the candidates themselves and among their supporters online, a Trump/Rubio war would be 10 times as bad precisely because of the stark choice they present. Cruz can be viewed (although he doesn’t have to be) as a compromise between the two — plenty conservative enough for Rubio fans, if not nearly as likable, and populist enough for Trump fans, especially as a contrast to Rubio. A Trump/Rubio race would end up as a proxy war between two radically different visions of the party. Rush would naturally caution listeners from reading too much into any soundbite, especially ones as short as these, but it’s hard not to come away from this thinking that if forced to choose between those two visions, despite his admiration for Trump in various ways, he’s with Rubio. Luckily, thanks to Cruz’s win last night, the odds of any voters having to face that binary choice — at least anytime soon — are slim.
Do we reward the establishment for sticking is with another unacceptable candidate?
It’s odd how often the “lesser evil” argument ends up being the ONLY argument in favor of the GOPe’s proffered candidate.
Many said “never again” after Romney, and yet here is the same old tripe back to see if they meant it - and the anger behind the argument will become voluminous as the election edges closer, should the GOPe get their way in the primary.
Anyone willing to abase themselves in perpetuity on the “lesser evil” argument must enjoy their shackles.
What is a “foam party”? (Do I want to know?)
JMHO.
I have always thought that Rush is part of the Hegelian Dialectic. William F. Buckley, Jr. might have been, also. I don’t know-—but i have thought it a few times, esp. with Rush, since he “talks, talks, talks” and it is like he releases the valves of anger to prevent the much needed Revolution.
The “victories” which he claims don’t change the course of our country, since he came to power on the radio. I see the same totalitarian direction——deeper and deeper to the point of no-return. Now ALL three branches of government are controlled by Marxists.
People like Brietbart were eliminated when the super elite knew he was trouble and a threat and not afraid to say the Truth. People end up in jail like D’Souza if they have a large platform. I know they did a couple of stings on Rush-—that might have been just “warnings” to get back in line.
It is like the popes for the last 30 years. They are pawns to help bury the world and create a One World kumbaya Religion.
They all obscure the hard Truth and lie to the masses—so we remain in the hot water like the frog being boiled.
Rush has to do it by deliberate omission—he is too bright to not understand that we really do have a muslim in the White House who is destroying our military, etc. He is too smart to not understand what “homosexual” marriage would do to “Just Law”. He was too smart to miss the homomafia movement written about in After the Ball-—to force their ideology/lifestyle on our children. He did nothing to curtail those Marxist movements to destroy Christianity or the Church/State idiocy which actually banned only one faith.
Sorry to say-—I think he has sold his Soul so he and his family won’t be killed (Ted Gunderson)—and I even thought that way 15 years ago. I still listen to him on occasion and love his brother—but his brother has children and a stake in the future and has a pretty solid moral compass.
Did buy Rush’s children’s book and do like a lot of what he says—but it is just part of the “dog and pony” show.. (Distraction). I don’t blame him though. The evil vile shadow government that JFK proclaimed right before he was killed (the secret societies speech) is really extremely evil and satanic and the threats that Rush must have had for a time must have severely frightened him. Don’t think he has that needed unshakeable faith in God.
Rush is not the blame for this evil system put in when he wasn’t even born. Truth is NOT allowed anymore-—since the 60s by any MSM and Rush has the same “restrictions” only he “preaches” from the Right-—but for the same Ends as the Left.
Given your FR handle I thought you would know ;-))))))))
The pic of Rubio is a bunch of guys..can’t remember if there were any females..with foam all around them. Like dancing on the floor with foam everywhere.
that’s what I wondered yesterday- He’s going to lose my support if he keeps down this road- What the hell is getting into ‘republicans’ these days? It’s like freakin bizzaro-land lately
In the mid to late 80’s when I lived outside of Sacramento in the foothills I sent a book about the homoagenda to Rush since he had touched on it but then ignored/merely made fun of it. I started listening to him around 87 when he was local in Sac. I realized after some time that he was purposely not rocking the boat, not touching certain things, and focused primarily on the political “horse race”. I still listened for some time but gave up years ago. He is intelligent but not driven by a desire for truth or real service to the country. Your assessment sounds correct. I have not read the article at the top yet, if Rush is praising Rubio, he’s gone even more into the dark side.
Some hours before Breitbart was killed, he talked on the phone with Arpaio about the forged birth cert and all that goes with it. That was why he was killed, but you of course know that. Just bringing up for reference.
Rush is taking the gloves off with Trump. Sarcasm and anger are dripping off of every comment El Rushbo makes. I don’t recall him ever being this angry at Rubio for joining the Gang of Eight. wow.
He is also a supporter of amnesty the ‘crat plant to marginalize the traditional middle class for political reasons.
The globalists will play with Rubio like a rag doll.
I have not heard Rush declaring for any of those running to be the Republican Party nominee for President. I heard him yesterday and his statement about Rubio was NOT a political endorsement, but that Rubio is, as a person, a ‘nice guy.’
If Rush or anyone else is complimentary of a politician you don’t like, based upon him being acquainted with that politician, you are running a pretty narrow set of evaluation criteria.
The interesting thing I’ve noticed the last few months here in FR, is that a number of posters take any kind/polite comment about a Republican candidate for president, means that the speaker is endorsing that person to be elected and then everyone who doesn’t like him/her gets blasted.
Here are two links, two related stories, have photos. I think one thread was pulled yesterday.

Here’s my take:
Rush has probably been inundated with pi$$ed off e-mails about his pro Cruz/Rubio shows. Going after Trump the way he is today, is a way to tell his Trump supporting listeners to Fu*k off, without going after them personally.
Make no mistake, Rush is furious with his Trump supporting listeners, and this is a way he can take digs at us without actually going after us personally. Rush is still a business man.
I understand you perfectly Rush ;-)
Read it then realize exactly why Reagan went with the amnesty....that it would never, ever be epgiven again!
Nope, the Gang of 8 Rubio/Obama/Schumer Bill isn't equal!
Click the links I just posted above to Rummy Chick. One of them has a photo of a foam party and description. Have barf bag handy.
Somebody please send me a message if Rush ever mentions Congresss constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
The title of this thread says Rush said Rubio is a full throated conservative.
Rubio and his gang of 8 are no such thing.
Oy! Creepy. At Seminary we only had bonfires. Sometimes we sang “Kumbaya”.
Try to control your hormones.
I don’t know if “full-throated” is the best term to use to describe Rubio in light of the porn allegations.
That’s true, Trump seems to have done a good job of exposing them. If he keeps Jebbie from the nomination, he has done a great service.
