Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul announced on Wednesday that he is suspending his 2016 campaign for president.
"It's been an incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House," Paul said in a statement. "Today, I will end where I began, ready and willing to fight for the cause of Liberty."
Paul finished fifth in Monday's Iowa caucuses with 4.5 percent of the vote -- behind rivals Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio and Ben Carson.

I hope you are right and Yeb! takes Rubio out before he exits.
Young Yeb! is every bit as bad a Yeb!
I don’t know what you’ve been drinking today, but Paul cannot stand Cruz like most of the other senators in congress.
Wouldn’t the fact that all the other senators can’t stand Cruz a good thing? Maybe he wouldn’t go along to get along.
Why would Paul supporters go to a statist like Trump?
all = should have been most
I tried to look it up, with no success.
I would think that the Paul withdrawal would be a slap in the face of the porcupines.
Jes wondering out loud.
Not too sure about that. Most libertarians don’t like religion being said and are liberals on social matters.
A wise move by Senator Paul. If he is true to Constitutional principles, he will endorse Ted Cruz. I am sure others are offering him cash and other inducements right now. We shall see.
I'm thinking mostly outsiders and non-religious. Everyone of the other candidates is a statist to one degree or another.
I would bet money that he doesn’t endorse Cruz or Trump
I could be mistaken, but I've always believed these guyz will stay in the race along with Rubio all the way to the convention.
The establishment GOP will not give up attempting to derail Cruz or Trump. Truly believe they will capture enough delegates to deny either of the anti-establishment candidates the delegates needed to lock the nomination going into the convention.
The good-ol-boy republicans are livid with the strength of these candidates. They forget though, it's not the strength of the candidates...it is the fury of the people against the establishment.
Good.
Two days off in Florida is NOT the way to win a presidential campaign. And it's something his supporters in Iowa should have been informed about.
No, I’m not seeing Paul supporters go to Trump. Yes, all others are statist to some degree, but Trump is the opposite extreme from Paul. Trump never talks about limited gov’t, just about how he would be smart and hire smart people to run gov’t.
The Carson campaign will let us know that he plans to fly back to Florida for more clean clothes because New Hampshire, like Iowa, lacks clothing stores and laundries.
Ted Cruz will be blamed.
Then Bush will serve a useful purpose in hurting Rubio. The establishment always uses conservatives, so why not use Bush against one of his own for our benefit.
Paul is not an outsider. He supported McConnell’s reelection. He is running for reelection. He supports amnesty and open borders. Most of his supporters will go to GOPe candidates.
NH will be Kasich’s best result. He has received many endorsements from the local media and the NYT. He will not leave after NH.
I’m surprised CNN didn’t report it 15 minutes before the IA caucus started.
Most libertarians are ardent defenders of religious liberty even if they are not religious themselves. Religious people would do well to ally with them.
