“Cruz defies the odds, wins Iowa, trumps Trump”

After spending a whole year in Iowa, and millions on organization. Has only one more delegate than him. Will be behind him and Rubio after New Hampshire.

What’s your point?

Cruz is uninspiring but I have to give him credit for a having good “get out the vote” ground game. That is the most crucial factor in a close race.

It is unlikely he is going to be on top from here on out. I think Trump has to worry more about Rubio than Cruz.

It’s nice to come in first, but the reality is Cruz’ big win gives him 8 delegates, Trump and Rubio each have 7 delegates. Tune in next week.

Is this posted as a joke?
Cruz’s received 51666 votes
Iowa population = 3,107,126

= 1.66% of Iowa population!

Difference between Cruz & Trump = 6239 votes = 0.20 % of population.

Defies odds? Good God there is no other state that is more for Cruz’s supporters then Iowa. They are really making too much of this. Had he won by 20 points I could see this being at least decent, but 1 delegate. They are taking this way too far. If I were Cruz I would be a bit more humble of course he has no idea what that means.

Pattern: Dems lose about 60-70k voters compared to last time, GOP picks up 60-70k “new” voters day of primary. Rubio an Open Borders Establishment candidate all of a sudden gets a huge boost. GOPe has done this before with Demo crossover voters to get rid of conservative candidate.

If trump won Iowa, trump supporters would be mocking Cruz supporters. Now they act like its no big deal, Iowans are dumb....

Christianity Today

This sort of political discourse is starting to affect how evangelicals talk about Trump. A notable exception is Russell Moore. He has consistently presented a line of argument—and not just name calling. His major thesis is that Trump is immoral by Christian standards. This is a fact: from Trump’s owning of strip clubs to his bragging about sleeping around to his Nietzsche-esque notions of power. Moore believes that a leader’s moral behavior will affect his leadership, so he argues that no Christian should support a candidate like Trump. This will not convince all Christians, but at least it’s an argument grounded in the fact of Trump’s moral behavior.

Charisma Magazine

“The late Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. would be rolling over in his grave if he knew the son who bore his name had endorsed the most immoral and ungodly man to ever run for President of the United States,” John Stemberger, president of Florida Family Action, said in a statement Monday. “Trump is a thrice married owner of casing with strip clubs and would give us the first ‘First Lady’ who has proudly posed in the nude while supporting gay marriage and funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayer money.”

Unique in So Many Ways

Indeed, Trump would be like no president before him.

The first to be married three times, cheating on the first two (and probably the third).
The first whose wife appeared nude in a magazine.
The first to boast of his sexual proclivities, claiming to have had sexual relations with some of the “top women in the world.” (This is who Sarah Palin is supporting?)
He will be the first that has owned casinos with strip clubs.
To proudly proclaim that he will seek revenge against his personal enemies “as viciously and as violently as you can.”
His wife will be the first first lady that has posed for lesbian porn.
And with that last bullet in mind, do you really think for a minute that Trump opposes gay marriage?

Why Donald Trump Threatens to Trump the Gospel

http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2016/january-web-only/why-donald-trump-threatens-to-trump-gospel.html

Donald Trump talked about his Christian faith Saturday, but said he’s never sought forgiveness for his sins.
The event is a gathering sponsored by several socially-conservative Christian organizations, including the Family Research Council, a socially conservative lobbying organization; Liberty University, the world’s largest evangelical university; and the National Organization for Marriage, a group established to prevent the legalization of same-sex marriage.
Trump, who told CNN earlier that he is both anti-abortion and anti-same-sex marriage, said people are surprised to learn about his Christian faith.
“People are so shocked when they find ... out I am Protestant. I am Presbyterian. And I go to church and I love God and I love my church,” he said.
Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions.
“I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so,” he said. “I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.”

Exactly what odds did Cruz defy. Evangelicals by and large in Iowa have never picked a winning presidential candidate that has competition. Obama won Iowa last presidential election. No way Cruz will carry Iowa come November.. Obama illegals will see toooooo that. Bank on it!

Cruz put more into it than Trump so he won. More ads, better organized ground troops and just out classed Trump. New Hampshire is going to be close and if Trump sticks to this tiresome “I'm winning in the polls” he will lose his ars.

Congratulations to Cruz! I'm still a Trump backer.

Listening to Hannity and Levin this evening, you'd think Cruz won the whole enchilada! Their enthusiasm for Cruz is .... (fill in the blank)

Cruz got 51,649 votes. 21,810 more than Santorum in 2012.

Delegates? Cruz got 31%, Trump and Rubio tied at 27% each. Carson 11%, Paul 1% of delegates.

Cruz #1 in both high income and low income areas
Cruz #1 in both high evangelical and low evangelical areas
Cruz #1 in sparsely populated areas. Rubio #1 in densely populated

Cruz was #1 in 55 of 99 Counties. Tied for #1 in 1 county.
Cruz was #2 in 37 of 99 Counties. Cruz was #3 in 6 of 99 Counties.

Trump was #1 in 38 1/2 counties. Rubio #1 in 5 counties.
Rubio didn’t make the top 3 in 8 counties. Didn’t make the top 4 in 2.

For Cruz to improve, he needs to do better in densely populated areas, probably by emphasizing no corporate welfare and similar populist libertarian positions; and expanding his ground game to cities, especially pentecostal churches.

For Rubio to catch up, he needs to do better in every metric. He cannot afford to come in 4th or 5th anywhere as he did in 6 Iowa counties. He must do better in both high income and low income areas.

Rubio must do better with many, many different demographic groups and factions.

The Carson-Paul-Huckabee-Santorum 18% are most likely to go to Cruz. 2nd most likely to go to Trump.
Very few of them would choose Rubio.

The Bush-Kasich-Cristie 7% would lean Rubio.

The path for Rubio does not look good.

Many in the establishment will see it and seek to cut a deal with Trump. Trump loves to make deals and will become the establishment candidate. The establishment will know it is a gamble as nobody knows what Trump would do if he were to win. Trump is a gamble for everyone.

I’m not in anyone’s camp right now... but I thought the Carson is quitting announcements may have helped him push through. That said, it was quite a leftist move.

Here’s my analysis.... besides the fact he beat the pompus windbag...... Cruz has been ridiculed for his speech last night. It was long, had his parents there and talked about God and family etc etc. You know... it’s probably the exact speech a guy gives after being called a nasty, mean ole little guy who everyone hates.
