Marco Rubio's November Electability Problem
PJ Media ^ | Feb 2, 2016 | J. Christian Adams

Posted on 02/02/2016 11:10:55 AM PST by JSDude1

There hasn’t been this much excitement in the luxury boxes since the 1991 Kentucky Derby when Mane Minister showed at 87-1. Marco Rubio’s expected third-place showing set off a frenzy of spin and sly promotion in the commentary class. The conventional wisdom is that Rubio is the more electable Republican in November as compared to Ted Cruz or Donald Trump.

The conventional wisdom is wrong, just as it was in 2012 and 2008.

Marco Rubio has two significant problems that render him a problematic November candidate. The first is his record on the most important issue of the year. The second is being the newly anointed preferred candidate of the Washington establishment.

The strongest supporters of Marco Rubio are those who think the political rules of 1996 still govern election outcomes in 2016. They believe a candidate cannot win without appealing to the moderate middle. They still believe the incentive and reward system of the pre-polarized world governs election outcomes (or they are themselves politically moderate).

His gang of 8 and amnesty support dooms him in any general. God forbid that he even get close to the nomination!

Team Cruz is on the Team Cruz band wagon, not for Trump, nor for Rubio.

If they shove Rubio at us, the 4 million who stayed home rather than vote for Romney will look like a drop in the bucket.

Many will decide to let the Chamber of Commerce experience Life With Bernie rather than pull the lever for another sellout.

They are dividing Trump and CRUZ supporters just as Jim Robinson predicted so they can push Rubio to the top.
And some here are supporting the establishment by attacking not only the candidate but also those who point out the problem.
Rush, Levin etc are working for the establishment by not being neutral !

Chances for another socialist in the WH improve every day that the vitriol on FR continues

Apparently it IS settled law!
Even though this article mentioned CRUZ it is applicable to Rubio too

Oh... I just checked that FWD.US site. Thank Heaven we kicked all of them to the curb a long time ago for various political reasons. Weird seeing all the “bad guys” on one web page!

The major problems with amnesty (and the path to citizenship) is that they are:
1. unconstitutional
2. they reward law-breaking and scofflaws
3. the outcomes of future elections will be determined because of illegality

I’m prepared to alter the Constitution to permit just one more amnesty and to legalize the 1986 “amnesty” provided that:
1. tax/fee/fine/benefit/revenue caps are permanently imposed on government at all levels
2. equal rights for Americans to reside, run businesses, own property are provided by treaty with each nation whose scofflaws are to be allowed to stay in the USA
3. the citizenship by birth in USA clause of Amendment XIV is voided and all children born in the USA shall be considered to have the citizenship of their mother (and under certain circumstances defined by federal law [from time to time] may be treated as having the citizenship of their father, provided he has helped both raise and supported his child for five years of a value in excess of the value of ten ounces of gold).
4. federal court jurisdiction to be purely limited to federal tax matters

The leftists are serious about 90% income and estate tax rates.

All they need is a few million more votes.

Too much “cheap labor” can be very expensive if you are a rich Republican.

Rubio is not prepared or strong enough to be President. He would be rolled by any number of politicians.

You do really get it don’t you?

The so called conservative pundits job is to prevent us from exploding. They vent our anger. All they do is talk and we think that is soooo important. Thinking that these talking people really contribute to the cause is a laughable.

Lavoy Finnicum sacrificed himself for the Constitution and his freedoms. You may disagree, but he died for his belief in the sanctity of the Constitution and resisted gov (BLM) oppression & tyranny.

Hell, John McCain convinced him to commit career suicide.

If Rubio was not a US citizen at birth, what country was he a citizen of? Rubio's parents were legal, green-carded permanent residents who before Rubio was born (or conceived for that matter) had filed for US citizenship ---which required, at that time, renouncing all previous citizenship(s). If he was not a US citizen at birth, what country was he a citizen of? There is a 5-year minimum waiting period before naturalization, and that assumes the government didn't lose track of the paperwork (which they did in my wife's case, she had to wait an additional 2 years because they intentionally lost the filing--"we had to clear the backlog,, even though she had receipts).

My experience is that immigrant citizens love this country more than, not less than, the people born here. My wife could not hear the Star Spangled Banner without crying. She knew how beautiful America is.

Interesting to me that the evil Republicans had a Hispanic/Canadian, a Hispanic, and a black guy in their Iowa top 4 and the “diverse” Dems had two old white people.

Don't forget that ol' Grover is married to an Intifada hottie.

Check it out, jihadists running these hot women at needy, elderly, horny American pols.

KGB played the same game with Slick Willie, hooked him up in Moscow. 'Course, he came briefed by a very Pink senator, old J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, one of those Ivy League senators from small Western States, so Slick was ready to go.
