Sure, his rival won the first-in-the-nation nominating contest. And he didn't even come in second place. In fact, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) came in third, exactly where we predicted he would.
But it's how Rubio came in third that makes all the difference. Polling indicated Rubio would be a distant third, trailing by perhaps double digits in the socially conservative state â an afterthought behind the two candidates expected to duke it out for first: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Donald Trump.

Trump was denied a win, so that's being spun. He and Cruz will continue to kill each other.
Rubio will rise. 2nd in New Hampshire. Then he can move forward as the Romney of this election:
"He's the one that can beat Hillary"...
"He's the electable one of the bunch. Trump and Cruz are too extreme."
And, as Fox said last night, "He's the JFK to Hillary's Richard Nixon!"
Rubio was the big winner last night with his surprise late breaking support.
Wait!
We’ve just been told Iowa was the GROPe’s victory for Rubio - who ‘everybody” is now getting behind!
Next target: Splitting the anti-establishment voters between Trump and Cruz!
And here it is!
All Rubio, all the Times!
All the Post!
All the ABCNNBCBS!

Rubio suddenly finds these voters and the establishment and the media is pushing him.
Can we knock it off from both sides knocking Trump or Cruz and focus on the bigger picture of letting that sleaze bag Rubio and the establishment in?
Iowa does NOT matter. Period.
I think you have a reasonable analysis of the situation and to the point.
My concern is that Cruz will have to write off too many states that Trump would have had in play. But Trump is far from my ideal candidate.
Exactly. It’s a meltdown on here on the Trump/Cruz threads.
The GOPe are laughing their asses off. We kill each other and Rubio gets the nomination just like Romney did.
Cruz and Trump need to kiss and make up. Focus their energies on Rubio and realize they need each other.
Trump and Sanders should get together - hire a polling company - and do an ‘after’ poll. My guess is Trump and Sanders both won their races.
It has to stop, even on here from both sets of voters.
The establishment is laughing like mad that their guy is moving forward while Cruz and Trump take each other out.
It has to stop, but I know it won’t as some on here cannot see that bigger picture. Once and if Rubio gets the nomination then it will be the fault of those voters and Trump and Cruz who failed to stop their attacks.
“Marco, you got some ‘splaining to do”
If Christie, Kasich, and Fiorina drop out after NH, the only thing chipping away at the establishment vote is Jeb's remaining supporters, while the anti-establishment vote gets split almost 50/50 between Trump and Cruz. So let's hope Jeb's ego and connections keep this from turning into a 3-way race where the establishment candidate (Rubio) comes out on top.
And tell him what he won!!!!!
One more delegate than Trump and Rubio, and a trip to a state where he has 7 days to make up a 20 point hole!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
If Rubio wins, America loses.
The Cheap Labor Express still expects the RNC to deliver the amnesty candidate that they have paid for.
As you know, that will not happen.
Trump has the best chance to win against the Republican establishment, and he will adapt and move forward.
Just remember, there was no President Santorum, no President Huckabee, and no Dole, Harkin, Gephardt, or Mondale either.
It’s Iowa.
Rubio is clearly the controllable establishment choice and he has birth issues as well. In addition he hasn’t been vetted/outed to near the same level as Trump or Cruz. It’s time for freepers to unite and take him out.
It doesn’t change my calculus. Romney was the LAST time I hold my nose to vote.
