Who is the slightly older man who just did the sign of the cross with tears in his eyes, as Ted hugged and went past him?

There is no âgrand strategyâ, the GOPe lost 66-34 tonight in Iowa. Celebrate it.
*************
Surprisingly, this was what they were saying on CNN. They were also saying that the establishment will now get behind Rubio.

Trump proved that he can't even win against weak Republicans. The only Republican who beat Trump tonight was Cruz. So Cruz is a weak Republican?

“Maybe, maybe not. Should the likely scenario happen of Cruz not getting the nomination, an Iowa win will still be something to slap on the resume for the next run 8 years down the line. Or 4 years if, God forbid, neither Trump nor Cruz pulls it off.”
I see Cruz as having a very similar shelf life so that resume bullet point will likely mean as much to him next time, or the time after, as it has for Huck and Santorum now. Cruz has to finish second in NH or a very close third to have any momentum SC.

But there is a grand strategy on the part of the GOPe that the Cruzers aren't seeing out of their hatred for Trump, and as of tonight their strategy is playing out perfectly. Yep, divide and conquer, delegate count is five-five split. This isn't the old bygone winner take all election game now.

The GOPe will never allow Cruz to be the nominee.
Not very optimistic is it.
To: Kenny
You have it backwards. At first, Trump opposed it. Then he backed off, separating himself from Republicans pushing to defund. I have yet to see where he changed his mind again.
This is a no-brainer. There is no way any pro-life person could ever ever ever defend funding Planned Parenthood, nor is there a way any Conservative could do so. Trump is not on our side.

Ted Cruz looked so humbled by his win. Then he ruined it with his Gd stuff. I do not believe Gd loves one candidate over another. I believe voters (or dirty tricks sometimes) choose the candidates.
To: drewh
The MSM will try to count Bernie out at this point.
And declare Rubio as the winner for the Republicans.
To: jwalsh07
They can't do squat if conservatives coalesce around the conservative. And that is Cruz.
You are wrong. You are right in saying that "they can't do squat if conservatives coalesce around the conservative", but you are wrong in thinking that "that is Cruz". It isn't. It may or may not be Trump, but it definitely isn't Cruz. It has to be a conservative who is capable of drawing votes from working blacks/hispanics, and/or blue collar democrats. Pyrrhic victories get you nowhere. And that is all a Cruz victory would be.
