The officer responded by apologizing.
A Florida woman turned the tables on a police officer, "pulling him over" for allegedly speeding Sunday afternoon.
Claudia Castillo recorded video of her interaction with the Miami-Dade police officer and said in the video, "He's been driving recklessly and pushing 80 to 100 miles per hour."
The officer said he was on his way to work and didn't believe he had been speeding. He said he pulled over because he thought Castillo, who was flashing her lights and honking her horn, was having an emergency.
"I saw you since Miller Drive when you were first jumping on to the Palmetto and you were pushing 90 miles an hour," Castillo said in her confrontation with the officer.
The officer responded by apologizing and telling Castillo, "I'll be sure to slow down then."
The Miami-Dade Police Department said in a statement authorities will have the officer's "immediate command staff investigate the matter, once the officer and citizen are identified. The appropriate course of action will be taken at that point."
Not kidding.
She’ll be arrested for flashing her lights...
Sounds like a Cruz supporter. ;)
It would have been better for all concerned if she had just waited until he pulled into the nearest donut shop.
No video of the actual driving offenses.
Didn’t she have to speed to know how fast he was going? And didn’t she have to speed to catch him?
She’s lucky the cop saw the camera.
In Soviet Russia, Police get ticket from you...
My thought when I saw this on the news this AM.
She will soon be getting a retroactive ticket
i tried using that excuse once... i was speeding so i could catch up to the police car i saw speeding ... to tell him to slow down...
he’s a professional, ma’am, and not subject to the laws that he enforces, through professional courtesy or arrogance, he is above the law.
his apology is meaningless, and you will be targeted for daring to speak truth to power.
Citizen's Arrest!
After giving Gomer a ticket moments earlier.
How embarrassing! That young Officer will never live this down. What does Miss Citizen’s Arrest look like, I wonder?
She took a big risk that the Officer didn’t have a real emergency that justified his speeding. That’s always my first assumption.
:: you were pushing 90 miles an hour ::
Proof of that would be that Ms. Castillo was going “just under” 90 MPH, according to her speedometer; provided the LEO-gentleman passed her.
LEO will skate since she will be required to admit she was ALSO exceeding the speed limit in order to accurately “clock” LEO.
A State Trooper came roaring through our town many years ago. He didn’t have his lights on or siren going. The Chief of Police stopped him and the trooper said he was responding to a call. The chief called the state police barracks and found out that there was no call and wrote the trooper a speeding ticket.
It’s common here for police to turn on the blue flashing lights on their patrol cars to avoid having to stop at a red light or stop sign. I’ve thought about reporting it to HQ, but then realized that nothing would come of it except possible trouble for me. Really burns me up, though.
Lol! First thing I thought of too.
Haha! First thing I thought of! Too funny... :-)
