A final Quinnipiac poll ahead of the Iowa caucus finds Donald Trumpâs support steady at 31 percent while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% has dropped 5 points in the last week.
Cruz currently has the support of 24 percent of likely caucus-goers, according to the poll. Last week, his support was 29 percent.
The poll also shows a late increases in support for third-place Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)79% . The Florida senator has 17 percent support, up from 13 percent last week.
Trumpâs current 7-point lead in the poll, released on the day of the Iowa caucus, seems to come completely from the drop in support for Cruz. The poll anticipates a big surge in turnout for the caucus. Trump has an 18-point lead among first-time caucus-goers.
The surge in turnout anticipated by Quinnipiac would change greatly the composition of the electorate voting Monday. If the Quinnipiac assumption on turnout is correct, only around 40 percent of caucus-goers would be evangelicals, a dramatic drop from the previous two caucuses.

We get OANN on our Amazon Fire Stick. We bought the one with the “voice remote” before Christmas for $35. Now that one costs $40 and the one with normal remote is $35. We like the voice remote and think it is worth the extra $5. I think the ROKU has more features but the Fire Stick works well for us.
My bet is cruz winner for 2%, Carson 8%
Great price and any way to get OANN is worth it.
Haha, I have killer legs and long hair.
Two to 4 inches of snow by Tuesday morning isn’t going to shut down very much.
They have different specs but they are both amazing little Android computers. In five years set top cable boxes as we know them will almost all be gone... replaced by these remarkable little gizmos. You won’t have to buy a whole line up of channels you don’t care about to get the few you actually watch.
Not expecting Carson to win, just to place in top 3.
No......Rubio is not the GOP Establishment RINO hope....Ted Cruz is, big time!!! The GOP Establishment RINOs wants to get rid of Donald Trump, anyway they can. They back Cruz because they know is a “one trick pony”, with an extreme radical and limited base of “Glenn Beck” supporters!!! With cruz winning th Iowa caucus....the GOP establishment can quickly finish him off....wipe him out politically and be done with him as thy try to foist Jeb Bush on us common folk!!!
Sad to say, any Iowa voter that votes for Ted Cruz is just wasting and throwing away their valued vote!!! Shame.....that they cannot see the forest for the trees!!!
Have you tried the Amazon Echo? She tells jokes among all the other things and could keep a shut in company.
From what I’ve been “told” here on FR is that Iowans are not deterred by the weather, so why would it have any effect in any candidate’s supporter’s case? I do not think there is a causal relationship with one group and not the other...and if that thought exists, I’d be interested in hearing why...
Yes, he slept during the debates, too :)
But Cruz is the master of the GROUND GAME!
I am a little too much of a cheap skate for an Echo.
But it might be useful for arguing politics with something you can just unplug.
I lived in NoDak for awhile. Weather deters Grandma and Granpa who might slip on the ice. It might deter a few people who are marginally connected to their candidate.
It’s enough for a +/- 5% swing, IMHO.
But we don’t know which way that will cut. Who is more motivated? Cruzers or Trumpsters? Not Rubes. :-)
Think that may because he is basically ignored by the mods. 4 questions in 2 hours?
Yes, but it is his style, too...I would not be surprised if he did very well in Iowa, “sleeping” through the Caucus.
‘Ever lived in the Midwest?’
Haha. Jjotto lives in Iowa.
Carson couldn’t give coherent answers to the four questions that he was asked during the debate, so I doubt any additional questions would have done him much good.
