British Prime Minister David Cameron says he will make universities disclose what proportion of poor and ethnic minority applicants they admit, in an attempt to end racial and class discrimination that "should shame our country and jolt us to action."

In The Godfather (the book, not the movie), there's an interesting paragraph. The words are spoken by Vito Corleone himself to Michael, and - I've always thought - relate in some way to the "Liberals" of our time:

This is a big part of the reason many ex-Tories rally around the common sense of Nigel Farage and UKIP.
I hate to break it to that pantywaist Cameron but if you are a white man or any other kind of man or any kind of woman, you are more likely to be in a prison cell than studying at a top university. If Britain is destroyed by an earthquake, it will be the result of Cameron’s existence as PM causing Maggie Thatcher and Winston Churchill to roll over in their graves at warp speed.
