Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said late Saturday that most Republicans are skeptical of climate change because billionaire donors David and Charles Koch tell them to be.
"Most of them are not that ill-informed," she said during a campaign rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. "They just have to do what the Koch brothers tell them. They say, 'don't believe your lying eyes - listen to us.' "
Clinton warned America's economy would slip behind other nations if lawmakers keep debating climate change instead of acting.
"Some country is going to be the 21st Century clean energy superpower," she said. "I think it will be China, Germany or us. I want it to be us and I hope it's us."
"I still believe we can make things in America. We're going to combat climate change and then we're going to create more clean, renewable energy jobs."
Clinton argued Republicans are so critical of her Oval Office bid because she is unyielding on clean energy and other progressive policies.
"The folks who know I have the toughest plan are the Republicans and their allies," she said. "You've got to ask yourself - why are they so nervous about me?"
"They know me. They know I mean what I say and say what I mean. We're going to take the fight to them and we can. I'm a progressive who likes to get things done."
Clinton's remarks come as she tries fending off Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Iowa caucuses Monday. Sanders trails Clinton by about 3 percent in the Hawkeye State, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
Yep. The Koch bros call me personally every 12 days to let me know what I should and should think and believe. I don’t know the first thing about them, but as a staunch conservative Republican, I trust them implicitly!!!
/SARC!!!
Are you referring to the mainstream media?
Have you repeated that post a thousand times yet?
Hillary must be dipping into Bills box of nose candy again.
I’ve read many, many articles - and a few books - critical of global-warming claims, and to my knowledge the Koch brothers have nothing to do with any of those sources. The TV and magazine ads I’ve seen that were explicitly funded by the Koch brothers or their businesses have never directly addressed the issue of global warming.
I like to make the same point that you did, i.e., that the global warming alarmists’ argument smuggles in unexamined assumptions about what the “normal” or “ideal” values of all those variables are.
We're going to combat climate change and then we're going to create more clean, renewable energy jobs. Then we're gonna discover a marvelous new cure for something, and when the medical community starts to take notice of us, we're going to jolly well tell them what to do, and make sure they get everything right, so there'll never be diseases any more. She's nuts.
I can't understand how anyone other than old women too stupid to use a computer - could vote for her.
I was unaware the Koch brother’s even had a position on this hoax...or even tied being a evil Climate denier to campaign contributions...
Of course Hillary would never lie...
Very astute observation. Please have someone (BIG govt) set the “correct” set of parameters so we can all strive to achieve them. Or something. :>)
Koch brothers? Oh you mean Freddy and Billy?
