Senator Ted Cruz has earned the endorsement of the largest Tea Party group in America. The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund announced today they are backing the senator from Texas for President.
“We seek a candidate who shares our values: personal freedom, economic freedom, and a debt-free future,” said Chairman Jenny Beth Martin in a press release. “I am proud to announce our endorsement for president of the United States: Senator Ted Cruz!”
There were a number of steps for each candidate to be considered for the endorsement. Candidates filled out a questionnaire, were interviewed, underwent vetting by opposition research, and finally Tea Party Patriots held an endorsement primary in which voters were allowed to voice their preference for the endorsement.
The press release contained quotes from various Tea Party leaders across the country:
“I was asked a few weeks ago ‘what makes a great president?’ I want our next president to have clear, easily identifiable, conservative principles, which he has lived with for his entire life. I want our next president to be able to clearly communicate his principles to America. I want our next president to have an understanding of the ‘levers of government.’ He should demonstrate a history of creative, constitutional, and effective solutions that have furthered his principles; and I want to be assured that he will continue to do exactly what he said he would do. And finally, I want our next president’s actions and principles to be guided by a spiritual moral compass. I think that man is the man I voted for in this endorsement process; Senator Ted Cruz.” – Frank Racz, Fayetteville, NC
“I have been a grassroots tea party activist for over 6 years, and I met Ted Cruz at a small event in Houston that several of our local groups held about four years ago when he was running against the establishment for Senate. He exuded a quiet confidence as I grilled him on why he was running and why I should support him. He told me he would visit with every grassroots group as he campaigned – and he did. He said Texas needed a Senator that would work for the people, and would stick to constitutionally conservative principles – and we did. He promised he would be that Senator, and we could trust him to do what he says – and we can. Over his four years in the Senate, he has fought for us on issues like repealing Obamacare and abolishing the IRS. I trust that Ted Cruz believes what he says and that he will do what he says! He has earned that trust from me, and he will earn it from all of you! I am honored and thrilled to be here in Iowa with the Tea Party Patriots to endorse Senator Ted Cruz to be the next President of the United States of America.” – Darcy Kahrhoff, Huntington Beach, CA
“It was 6 years ago, almost to the day, that I had the privilege to meet Ted Cruz for the 1st time in January 2010. Ted had invited a dozen or so members of the more active Tea Party groups in Texas for an early pre-announcement of his intent to run for the United State Senate. At that time both of our Senators were as much ‘Washington Cartel’ as they make them. In that room we were all fierce watchdogs, not ready for a new politician willing to deal and get along.
A couple of hours later, as we came out of that meeting, we all had sparkles in our eyes. The reaction was unanimous: ‘This is just too good to be true. Is this guy for real? If he is, we have found the most incredible gem we could ever have dreamed of.’ Well, during these last 6 years, because he first was my candidate, and then my Senator, I have watched him very closely, day after day. And yes, I can tell you now, we have not been disappointed. Ted is for real!
He said what he was going to do, and he did what he said he would do. He has been the game changer in corrupt Washington, DC. Ted Cruz has been a fantastic Senator who made Texas proud! Ted Cruz will be the genuine and strong President our Country needs to become great again! I am proud to stand by Ted and endorse him! God Bless Iowa! Please show us the road!” – Suzanne Guggenheim, Corpus Christi, TX
Members of Tea Party Patriots have pledged to vote en bloc for the candidate who received their endorsement to ensure that he or she would have the greatest opportunity to win the Republican nomination.
Mr. Cruz will need this kind of consolidated support to win what will be a contested Iowa caucus on Monday.
HAMLIN, Iowa â Iowaâs secretary of state chastised the presidential campaign of Senator Ted Cruz on Saturday for sending a mailer that he said violated âthe spirit of the Iowa caucusesâ and misrepresented state election law.
The mailer, flagged by a handful of Twitter users and confirmed as authentic by the Cruz campaign, included a warning of a âvoting violationâ in capital letters at the top of the page.
Levin is OK with Cruz’s letting nepotism hires for his girlfriend’s kin.
This is the type of thing that makes Levin’s support of Cruz seem like a bartered endorsement a quid pro quo.
I know what this is all about. What I want to know is how it happened.
In my opinion it was poor judgement on the part of the campaign.
I don’t know whose idea it was but Cruz is defending it.
I think at this point he has to, but on the inside I imagine heads will roll. I understand that this technique has been used widely in the past without this kind of recoil. I think the problem came with the WAY it was done. It is exceptionally ham-fisted and counter productive. Just plain stupid.
Just....shocking.
I really like Ted. He’s my second choice after Trump. I won’t bad mouth him, but I will say that hearing the name Jenny Beth Martin causes me to shudder.
Think back on the 2014 elections and primary races. Where was Jenny for David Brat? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1gj5Tp2a34.
Later interviewed on air by Laura Jenny struggled greatly and blamed all her great work in Mississippi on trying to help beat Thad Cochran. In other items about support to Brat there is this http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tea-party-groups-that-offered-dave-brat-zero-support-sure-are-thrilled-he-defeated-eric-cantor/article/2549568 and this

Yet, to me was the investigative piece on conservative group spending here
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/tea-party-pacs-reap-money-for-midterms-but-spend-little-on-candidates/2014/04/26/0e52919a-cbd6-11e3-a75e-463587891b57_story.html where you can see exactly what level of funding support to candidates is given (including Tea Party Patriots).
To my mind, perhaps an endorsement by them for Ted is good for moral support, but if I were a cautious man, I’d be thinking about just how much of that donation money out there it will siphon off and spend on overhead before it gets to helping me. I’m sure this endorsement will be far more beneficial the JBM and funding raising for her rather than Ted. Not a good move IMO.
Posted the wrong link in the last citation.
This is the one that breaks down the spending for the 17 groups. Take a look at the chart middle way down.

The Tea Party? Coffee please.
‘You puss filled ignorant bastard’ fits right in with what you typed here. Project much?
And they claim Trump’s supporter are cultists.
You don't know what Sowell said, but if he said anything about Trump that you don't want to believe, then he is wrong. I see.
Super cool man!
None of the Trump criticisms hold water ...
I am sure if that were true, we would all be hearing about it. Cruz admitted it was theirs.
Yes, it was theirs, but who is the maroon who planned and who approved this bonehead move? Cruz says no apologies, but this close to a primary/caucus, what else can he say? i’d like to be a fly on the wall at Cruz HQ. Somebody has to be getting a serious wire brushing.
“Conservative review ? Isnât that Levinâs outfit ? Instant discredit ...”
Oh, yes, it’s that and more. Tea Party Patriots endorses Cruz with their phony ‘vote’ of their ‘supporters’. I saw this bogus ‘poll’ on FB. They want way too much personal information...this is where Cruz is getting all our email addresses, among other corrupt ‘conservative’ ‘non profits’. ANYONE could take it, and it doesn’t matter anyway, because they’ve ALWAYS been Pro Cruz, as sponsors on Mark Levin who is PRO CRUZ and on and on just like some of us have been trying for years to tell people.
ONE MORE TIME.
TEA Party Patriots, Jenny Beth Martin at $200,000 a year and Tea party Express, Sal Russo, are just two K St. lobbyist whores with no allegiance to the tea party or anything but $$$. Russo is as open border as they get. Martin is an overpaid mouthpiece who has people fooled. It’s what they do to scam you out of your $$$! THIS IS A SCAM.
NEITHER of them represent or are affiliated with the grass roots ‘TEA PARTY’.
This ‘vote’ for Cruz has NOTHING to do with the grass roots local tea parties!
The money behind Cruz is DIRTY.
This article isn’t completely right about the ‘tea party’ because they assume the grass roots approves of these scammers ‘representing’ them, when they’re just really ignorant, but it’s factual enough that you should be concerned.

The tea party radio network
“TEA Party Patriots, Jenny Beth Martin at $200,000 a year and Tea party Express, Sal Russo, are just two K St. lobbyist whores with no allegiance to the tea party or anything but $$$. Since Russo Is local California for me, I have remained on his email list, so I can see what they are doing.
1. They take a percent fee, for all funds raised.
2. They charge administrative expenses for funds raised.
3. They take a percent fee, for any ads placed if there is money left after 1 and 2 above.
The admin fee in 2 above helps pay Russo and others nice salaries.
That’s most interesting. Thanks B.
Btw, that would rate a thread of it’s own IMO.
