Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.
Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of Stateâs Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code." - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

It was released by Rick Tyler who is the Communications Director for the Cruz campaign. Cruz doesn’t know what his own Communications Director is doing? Sounds like something Obama would pull.
BTW - has Cruz denounced the mailers yet? The ones telling people they are in “VIOLATION” and there will be follow up?
Not just any employee, THE communication Director of the Cruz Campaign, Rick Tyler.
“Violation on mailer may not be smart, but not illegal.”
It smacks of intimidation and THAT is illegal.
“Why have we only heard from that one guy who said heâs now voting for Rubio over it?”
Because you obviously don’t have a view in to Rick Tyler’s twitter account, or the internet. It’s not just one person complaining. And those who are,,are saying it’s going to make them vote for someone else.
Dumb. Move. Cruz will be lucky if his campaign isn’t accused of voter intimidation. Which, btw, IS illegal.
âNobody in the LSM is on thisâ
Give âem time. Itâs gonna blow up in the next 24 hours
Yep. Now NYT has picked it up. Any guesses as to how this is being viewed?
HINT: It’s a huge NEGATIVE for Cruz.
“either unknown by Cruz or sabotage.”
Why would Cruz NOT know what his own Campaign Communications Director is sending out?
Or, why would his own Comm. Director sabotage him?
“approved by campaign leadership”
It WAS approved by campaign leadership and has been admitted to. Cruz’s Communications Director approved it. His name is Rick Tyler and he said he approved it.
There is no mystery, Cruz didn’t know, etc. If that were true, Cruz would be out there stating such. But he isn’t.
Beck’s company just have 2 senior staff quit. He’s had turnover at the CEO level 4x since early 2014.
Wonder why?
Well, if EVERYBODY’S doin it...
It’s like a January Surprise except (allegedly) it was a gaffe.
Yes, I agree.
That’s my question, too.
I wouldn’t be thrilled to receive such a mailing, but I wouldn’t have received one because I rarely miss voting in elections, particularly Presidential elections. The reason I responded as I did was that I was challenged due to my statement that this mailer has been used in the past, even in Iowa, and it has been. Intrusive, distasteful, whatever, it’s perhaps all those but it’s not illegal.
exactly. and now apparently the campaign response is ‘so what. everybody does it’. SMH
And the wife. Something wrong about Heidi.
It’s like the Dean Scream in that as soon as you hear the scream, (or see this document) you automatically go “ooohh. . .” with a bit of a stuned look on your face. No more than when Trump said Megyn Kelly was bleeding out of her whatever, but hey, it’s his gaffe, it’s all in how he plays it. Would Trump apologize for something like this?
He could say, “I’m sorry if you’re offended by this narrow campaign mailing that we used to try to increase participation in these caucuses of truly national importance.”
Or he could say “I dindu nuffin.”
Take macaca. It’s not a racial slur, it’s a monkey. It’s not a slur of the monkey’s name, it’s the proper latin for the annoying little monkeys who range over most of the world. He should have been able to handle it. But, even me, I just about typed “little brown monkey” and that would have tainted it.
If it is against election laws, then I await for the charges to be filed.
