Statement from (Iowa) Secretary of State Paul Pate Regarding Misleading Mailer from Cruz
Oskaloosa News ^

Posted on 01/30/2016 1:07:24 PM PST by springwater13

Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.

Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code." - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

You run loose with the truth constantly.

You talk loosely about the word, but have never posted any of it.

Mold it in your head all you want, but you are the subject of the declarations of Matthew Ch 7.

I have no idea what God would consider about anything. I do know that it's one thing to be tough on an opponent because it's a battle to win. It's another to be tough on regular people who have become apathetic. I realize far too many people do not consider voting as crucial as it really is. However I do think most people just really want something to vote for. And to vote because you don't want your neighbors to see you didn't, is a messed up motivation!

The Des Moines Register now has the story. It's a bad day for Cruz, and I expect it'll get worse tomorrow as the story grows.

Sorry, I don't do links, but you an cut and paste:

Obvioulsy paid a vendor to send out mailers for the campaign.... as a cruise supporter, the mailer is horrible and even if somebody thought it would be effective they would be 100% wrong. All it’s going to do is piss people off when I get it.

There is a certain small (by their numbers, not by the numbers of their posts!) subset of Cruz supporters, and also a smaller - I think - number of Trump supporters, who are so annoying and post so frequently that I sometimes think they must be plants by opposition.

Ted Cruz, the "Constitutional Attorney", the "smartest lawyer in the room", by sending these "Voting Violation" mailers, in my opinion, violated the following federal election laws. Many States have similar laws.

The following is an image of a mailer Senator Ted Cruz sent out intimidating and threatening voters. It contains voter information and the information of the voter's neighbors.

It threatens "follow up notices" with no doubt information about if the voter voted in the caucus.

It attempts to intimidate voters by threatening public disclosure to neighbors of a person's voting record.

One must ask what does Senator Ted Cruz expect the person receiving this notice should do to their neighbors for not voting as Senator Ted Cruz demands, and what might happen to the voter if the neighbors are informed they have not voted as Senator Ted Cruz expects?

These are direct threats and intimidations in violation of federal election, civil rights, and postal laws.

The following PDF document outlines the federal election laws and the government's position on such matters for the purposes of prosecutions in such matters.

Federal Prosecution of Election Offenses Seventh Edition, May 2007

The following sections are from the above document.

42 U.S. Code § 1973gg-10 - Criminal penalties (violation of election law)
A person, including an election official, who in any election for Federal office-

(B) urging or aiding any person to register to vote, to vote, or to attempt to register or vote; or
(C) exercising any right under this subchapter; or
(2) knowingly and willfully deprives, defrauds, or attempts to deprive or defraud the residents of a State of a fair and impartially conducted election process, by-
(A) the procurement or submission of voter registration applications that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held; or
(B) the procurement, casting, or tabulation of ballots that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held,
shall be fined in accordance with title 18 (which fines shall be paid into the general fund of the Treasury, miscellaneous receipts (pursuant to section 3302 of title 31), notwithstanding any other law), or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.

18 U.S. Code § 594 - Intimidation of voters

18 U.S. Code § 245 - Federally protected activities
(b) Whoever, whether or not acting under color of law, by force or threat of force willfully injures, intimidates or interferes with, or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with-
(1) any person because he is or has been, or in order to intimidate such person or any other person or any class of persons from-
(A)
voting or qualifying to vote, qualifying or campaigning as a candidate for elective office, or qualifying or acting as a poll watcher, or any legally authorized election official, in any primary, special, or general election;

(5)
any citizen because he is or has been, or in order to intimidate such citizen or any other citizen from lawfully aiding or encouraging other persons to participate, without discrimination on account of race, color, religion or national origin, in any of the benefits or activities described in subparagraphs (1)(A) through (1)(E) or subparagraphs (2)(A) through (2)(F), or participating lawfully in speech or peaceful assembly opposing any denial of the opportunity to so participate- shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death. As used in this section, the term “participating lawfully in speech or peaceful assembly” shall not mean the aiding, abetting, or inciting of other persons to riot or to commit any act of physical violence upon any individual or against any real or personal property in furtherance of a riot. Nothing in subparagraph (2)(F) or (4)(A) of this subsection shall apply to the proprietor of any establishment which provides lodging to transient guests, or to any employee acting on behalf of such proprietor, with respect to the enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations of such establishment if such establishment is located within a building which contains not more than five rooms for rent or hire and which is actually occupied by the proprietor as his residence.

18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death. Here you go satan:

Matthew 7: [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Yes I would define these letters as more of a threat letter than a shaming letter. I’m actually shocked that they did it. Desperation is an unfaithful hand maiden.

I saw the article stated that a professor at the University of Northern Iowa did research on it, but it does not say the tactic was actually used in Iowa.

Took me forever to find it.

I add some lard then warm the pan. Not hot. Then I dump in some coarse salt and a little bit of baking soda.

Scrub it with the soft brush (no soap) and rinse it out. Wipe it out and carry on from there.

I also use this:

Let me explain to you how things are created. Somebody puts in a purchase order with either the vendor or a third party (who in turn places order with vendor). Somebody designs them, and somebody decides what they are to say, and somebody puts the layout and words together, then somebody proofs them and approves the layout and wording and they go to press. Nobody calls a “vendor” and says “make me a mailer” which then gets sent out. Because no vendor is going to create something without a PO which says who and how it gets paid for, etc etc. Since these types of mailers cost about $4 (according to MoveOn.org’s previous mailings of this type) you can bet when you are spending that type of money, someone makes the suggestion to do it which is approved by campaign leadership and someone then has the authority to spend that money.
