Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.
Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of Stateâs Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code." - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

It’s on Drudge now.
Drudge has it up just now
In AZ the ballot is secret. There are records on whether or not you voted, but no record for whom.
You walk in, fill out your paperwork, show ID and mail, then they hand you an empty ballot as you’re escorted to a booth. You fill out the paper (win NO identifying markers for you) and drop it in the box.
So yes. People would know if I registered “R” or “D” or if I voted or not, but not what candidate I actually voted for.
I am starting to think YOU are Ted Cruz ... or maybe his crazy old man.
“Which campaign used it before?”
Obama evidently did.
I think this could be a constructive moment of humility for him. Better to see the problem early and take ownership of it, than to let it just ferment.
God is not through with either Trump or Cruz. How they react when faced with unexpected upset, is going to factor into how they look to the public.
The guy who owns his error and the embrace of the correction, is going to go further, faster.
“The real damage will come when local news stations in Iowa run with it. These people are their neighbors.”
Yes, you are correct. The real damage will indeed occur in Iowa and at THE worst possible time for Cruz: one day before the caucuses. While there will be a generalized negative national fallout for Cruz, that might not matter a whole lot anyway if Cruz can’t demonstrate significant momentum in Iowa, and then in NH and SC.
I swear this might be a death blow to Cruz’s campaign, and once again, like the “New York Values” crack, Cruz will have done it to himself. This may be equal to Howard Dean’s insane scream. Several good people like Walker, et. al. who were fine at the state level fell apart at the national level; maybe that’s what we’re seeing with Cruz: he’s just not quite ready yet to play on the national stage.
So perhaps all of these debates and this intense media coverage are good things after all, putting intense pressure on candidates and seeing how they handle the heat. The weaker ones fold and the stronger ones remain standing.
And that means a LOT more people will see it.
Like the Chicago weather. If you don’t like it, wait an hour.
If the apology is offered as unto God, to confess an actual wrongdoing rather than a political displeasing, then what the people hound him for after that is of no account.
Here’s where Cruz should, in theory, be a champ.
You think that is campaigning? I call it a deceptive practice!
Everyone is seeing the “arrogance” now that is the Cruz campaign!
lololololololololololol
Bless your heart....no, really....lololololololol
And there was a wrongdoing by the Book here... you don’t deceive your neighbor, which the tone of the mailing apparently did. Nobody of any authority is judging the neighbor, and this in fact should have been an informed PLEA for help by the neighbor.
Choking are we .. do YOU need an ambulance ..??
And NO, I’m not joking.
Yeah, it is ONLY a sample of the Cruz approved style.
Excuses don’t become the situation.
Apologies (as to actual mores of right and wrong) do.
Thanks for the correction. Is the secret ballot obsolete in all states? In WA State, which is 100% vote by mail, there is an outer envelope, which IDs the voter, and an inner envelope which is generic. The outer envelope is used by the election worker to validate the voter’s registration. I assumed the inner envelope was used to maintain the secrecy of the voter’s choices.
Donald made him do it BLAME TRUMP
Ia it going to be a whaambulance?
Trumpites simply choose to ignore them and in their fantasy world, think somehow Trump has changed. They have suspended all rational thoughts in their minds.
Name call and project all you want, this article is about the Iowa SOS taking issue with this intimidation tactic.
