It has now been confirmed - The photograph of Ted Cruz campaign shaming letters is legit (see below). The letters are officially from the Ted Cruz campaign.
Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler confirmed to IJ Review that the mailer was theirs in a phone call Friday evening, saying that the targeting had been "very narrow, but the caucuses are important and we want people who haven't voted before to vote." (link) The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads: "You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses". In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record. How the Cruz Team would think a public shaming campaign is a good idea is just staggeringly unbelievable.
The campaign scheme was exposed via Twitter where "Tom Hinkeldy, a resident of Alta, Iowa, tweeted a photo (which was later deleted because it included his personal address) on Friday evening of a mailer Sen. Ted Cruz's campaign sent addressed to his wife, Steffany" -link-
Word spread rapidly.

There is no comparison.
Ted probably never got a failing grade in his life, unlike the rest of us, and didn’t know the shame we have all felt, so he was okay with the mailing. sarc.
And that's sayin' something.
No.
It’s a private letter containing public information.
The idea that this outrageous and trumps conduct and the slander from hi supporters is not outrageous is what is absurd.
The only folks posting these letters to the Internet are trump supporters.
These are private letters now made public by trumpetsrs.
Have received a similar version to this in Fla US mail so he’s not alone.
This was past elections , not this current one
Yeah, right.
The nasty snark over not supporting liberal Mitt, were you here for it?
The Mittbots shrieking at everyone that not supporting the liberal was supporting the liberal.
I remember.
This is similar, and the same people who did the Mittwit cheerleading are now upset over this.
Absolutely precious.
Just not sure they'd end up voting the way that mailer hopes....
I’m with you. He’s lost my very strong and vocal support between this and Glenn Beck as well as his campaign’s pathetic fund-raising emails. Adios, Mr. Cruz. Color me “undecided.”
He did for the ‘Constitutional Children’.
Do you really think knowing your neighbors voting attendance is a good thing? I probably would get an “A” but I’d still be pissed if this went to my neighbors. What business is it of them? If it was a report card strictly about me...........maybe. But for me to know about my neighbors voting habits is pretty nasty. But of course, I have warned everyone for years about this creeper. A lot of people are finally learning what I have known all along.
NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS BEEN DONE FOLKS!! AND POSTED 4,443 TIMES SO FAR :)
yeah, it was tacky but people with cruz derangement syndrome need rabies shots if they think this is gonna be remembered in 8 years.
he’s not gonna win this time around, but you people should worry more about rubio being shoved by fox into second than Cruz at this point.
i wont even read the nonsensical outrage probably posted all over this, the 4,443rd thread about this incident. :)
but no problem with trump’s article on being pro life last week starting with the statement that rape and incest?, no biggie. kill away!!
BTW, it’s not a straw man argument. estimates are that FOURTEEN THOUSAND are killed as a result of this each year.
yeah, i’m voting for trump. dont have a choice in the generals.
but get some guts trumpsters and admit that those lives are the price you’re willing to pay to get your country back.
You are actually defending it? Unbelievable.
Nobody in their right mind is going to respond positively to a shaming letter. All it will do is foment ill will. Cruz is really desperate. I think he’s looking at third place and is grasping at any straw.
It is not ok to send private letters to people saying you are not voting and you should.
Your right but putting your neighbors names and voting grade is not good. I can’t believe you can’t see that. Your love is blinded. I can’t wait for this to be over because you are one of the best FREEPERS here and right now you and I are on opposite sides.....I hate that. lol. Love ya....have a great weekend.
Compared to the number of lives that would be lost under Hillary, yeah, I’m with Trump.
I suspect this attempt to “pull out all the stops” indicates Cruz didn’t believe he would win and knows this is his only shot to move forward.
Consequently, it may be that his internal polling says he is behind going into the Caucus.
Next, his team will follow Obama’s lead and bus in college students from surrounding states to try to win. It worked for Obama.
If I got one of those, I would be LIVID, too!
I used to say I was an Independent because Rush Limbaugh used to complain massively about those claiming to be Independents.
A ‘no’ vote or ‘stay-at-home’ vote is just as valid as a vote cast for some person.
Maybe Larimer’s neighbors could go through his garbage, count the bottles, and send the neighbors a letter about his drinking habits.
Oh, come on.
Everybody knows that Trumpanzees are too stupid to even find their own backsides with both hands.
They are incapable of getting to their caucus sites without a helper to take them there, and show them how to fill out the form. /s
