The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads:
"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".
In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

New Beck/Cruz Three $ bill?
Crazy Beck swearing in Ted Cruz as Faux President. Another critical Waterloo event!

>>Theyâre public records. If someone is playing Big Brother itâs whoever passed the law making the records public.
These are clearly people not likely to vote. Every tactic has probably already been tried to motivate them. So this is a last-resort effort. It might be the only motivation they understand to actually get involved and stop the liberal takeover of America.
Yes, the records are public and no laws have been broken. But, with this mailing, I believe Cruz and his team of highly-paid advisors have demonstrated a total lack of understanding of basic human nature. Regardless of who the candidate is, it is breath-taking in its lack of foresight.
Although much citizen personal information seems to be “public” today, I suspect most citizens would not react positively to having any kind of information about them mailed to their neighbors. Net result= Negative.
If the goal is to get someone to vote for your opponent, this would be a brilliant move.
Again, regardless of who the candidate is, this is just sad. If it was the bright idea of the paid advisers, they need to return their paychecks to the candidate!
.
(ahhooga!...ahhooga!)
Oh I hope Cruz doesn’t come out and make excuses for this or say it is good and acceptable. That be worse thing he could do. Or wait, he needs to move fast here. He has been getting terrible campaign advise, or he is just out of touch with smart.
I’m sure that this flier is always unique to whoever is the biggest hoser in the election!
I’m not sure Trump has the capability to be a statesman, but if I put myself in these voters’ shoes, I have to admit Cruz’s campaign is worthy of any scorn piled on. I really don’t care if this mailer has been done historically. I cannot vote for a candidate who tries to shame people to vote for him. If true, I’m done with Cruz.
BOL!
It reeks of the desperation of a big time loser.
Good for you!
What a doche
:-)) ZING!
The return address in the picture in the OP is not a PAC.

I am aware of that and it is concerning. I went though his actual campaign expenditures and it has not paid for any DIRECT MAIL according to his FEC filings. His campaign expect the new filings to be January 31/Feb 1st.
I am continuing to dig because and states that “not yet 100% proved that this is their piece, I am only about 98%, given date and cost.”
I will update on Monday.
Sounds like something Trump would do. If Cruz did it then shame on them. But let’s not kid ourselves, this has been done by campaigns on both sides of the political aisle for years.
Cruz campaign had paid $200k+ for directing mailing this month.
Cruz is creepy. I am sick of Heidi’s everyday begging phone calls.
Cruz’s campaign confirmed they sent it. Not Trump.
Nice try.
>>”Comrade, It has come to our attention that you have not voted in Party elections during the past 5-year plan. You should know we are watching....”
That’s what the message feels like. The old Soviet Union. Big Brother reminding you he is watching.
It reminds you because that is exactly what it is.
Tactics of the Tyrant.
Cruz sure is an enigma, smart yet stupid, you want to believe him but he is too slick to believe, foot in mount syndrome.
Yes, we do. What they do now serves as a window into what they will do in office.
This is a highly unethical tactic. I don't want a president who has so little respect for Americans and our ways.
I was voting in the FR Caucus Poll, until a few days ago. I had a good reason for failing to vote. I appreciate that nobody has sent out a FReepmail admonishing me, and telling my fellow FReepers about my failure. It's public knowledge. Anybody can look at the threads and know when I voted and when I didn't. I still wouldn't like a public shaming like the one Cruz just dished out.
I'm ready to vote in the caucus again, and I'll be changing my vote today.
I started as a Cruz supporter.
Then I went to Trump, with Cruz as my second choice.
No. More.
Actually, Trump doesn’t use sneaky tactics. You may not like what he says, but he does it out in the open.
The Cruz camp has admitted to this, so blaming Trump won’t work.
Could be why a bunch of people up and quit his campaign.
