Thursday nightâs Republican presidential debate on FOX News Channel scored 12.5 million viewers, making it the second-highest rated telecast in the networkâs history.
The debate topped all television shows -- including broadcast programs -- on Thursday night in total viewers. It also pulled in 3.5 million viewers in the advertiser-friendly demo of adults aged 25-54, according to Early Nielsen Research.

Some folks wanted to see Cruz without Trump. No doubt they think he shined.
Some wanted to see what FoxNews would spring on the candidates.
Some folks are just political junkies, and had to watch.
It was all curiosity driven, for different reasons.
There are two full Trump event YouTube videos with close to 400,000 views already. (Page 1)
There are several full Des Moines debate YouTube videos, and their numbers are a fraction of that. (Page 1) (not much to follow)
There were some multi part YouTubes of the debate, and the first part of one of the series, had 70,000 plus.
Folks, Trump draws more interest. I think that translates to votes. Some won’t.
The debate had been advertised for months. A lot of people tuned in.
The Trump affair had been planned over 24 hours. A very impressive number of people tuned in considering.
Prove what?
The other 10 million watched Trump’s vet event on C-Span.
“The Children went to the circus”.
What do you have against veterans?
Your low Chanel brother was the only debate you beat.

“BULLSHIT! PROVE IT!”
What? The link to the FR contribution page??
bit bitter, ay?
But it did.
“The other 10 million watched Trumps vet event on C-Span.”
Also, Newsmax TV broadcast the event live and I am sure their numbers were way up.
yeah even Rush said people checked in to the debate just to see if Trump was going to show up at the last minute and wanting to see the reaction if it happened.. then they got to see Cruz’s jokes fall flat.. According to most it was Cruz’s worst debate
It was Ted’s night to shine. If we think he converted or not, that’s okay. What the public thinks will rule the day.
I heard that his jokes fell on a silent hall, but I didn’t watch, so that might not be true.
Cruz is not a man I support. I’m sorry but I don’t see in him what some others do.
I will tell you this, if FoxNews had been known to be setting him up to take him out, I would not only have urged him to refuse to play along, I would have been urging Trump not to play along.
The MSM should not be allowed to get away with this.
In essence, FoxNews was allowed to. Enough people tuned in to make it look like no big deal what they were planning to do to Trump.
Whether you support Trump or not, that should not be acceptable.
I have no appreciation for Jeb Bush whatsoever. If they were going to submarine him, I would have felt the same way.
The public should make determinations, not talking heads.
Meanwhile Trump didn’t break over 2 million views for his scam.
Thursday night’s Fox News debate was the second-lowest rated debate of the primary season
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/267497-trump-less-debate-is-second-lowest-rated-of-the-primary#
Trump could have held this event at any time. Instead he used it to promote himself.
Sure he got some heroic veterans to speak at the event, but the principle reason why he held it on Thursday night was to stick it to the other candidates and promote himself.
The debate was a lot more educational than if Trump was there. With Trump at the debate it would have been a circus, but Trump took his circus and left town. I guess it was a win win. Trump wins and gets his much needed self promotion. And the voting public won by not having the two year old whiner at the debate making faces and calling people bimbos and otherwise acting like the @$$ that he is and always has been.
I stand corrected. At first glance I thought you were claiming the CNN rally beat last night’s Fox debate.
Unfair, unbalanced, and very very afraid.
The Trump event was carried live by many local stations in Iowa. Trump won here.
It was also carried by multiple cable channels and was streamed all over the internet. It’s impossible to know how many people watched it.
You think those ratings were good considering it is the last debate before the primaries begin?
Those ratings stink compared t what they would have been. It depends on how one spins it!
The mission was accomplished as far as Trump is concerned, he won!
