This is why the Drudge Report poll matters:

Full title

This is why the Drudge Report poll matters: In a bad year for polls, this online vote keeps demonstrating Trump fervor

One indicator that none of the experts have been looking to in their predictions or analysis is something that’s relatively new. It’s existed in previous campaigns, but it has distinguished itself significantly this year by being perhaps the most consistent indicator of how determined

Trump’s supporters are to stick with him. It’s the unscientific online poll of readers on The Drudge Report. Trump has dominated the Drudge online poll that has been taken after every televised debate, and, naturally, he loves boasting about it.

But this isn’t about who would win in November between Trump and Hillary. An online poll on a site beloved by conservatives would never accurately reflect that. But as a measure of fervor within a primary, it captures something real about the passion and the intensity of Trump’s support among the base.

The Iowa caucus, in many ways, will be the test of what Trump has built: Does he have a coalition which will turn out to back him, or is it an angry Internet-based coalition willing to vote online but not at the real polls?

There must be better arguments in favor of your chosen candidate as apposed to telling everyone else that they are stupid. The "you are a stupid dupe" argument is not helping Cruz's numbers. Why?

Good point.

I like to think I originally stuck to the issues and pointed out where Cruz's policy positions and record were a perfect match for most of the members of this forum, and that Trump is still to the left on many topics, and only recently conservative on his conservative positions.

I'm frustrated at the ease with which the Trump supporters here simply dismiss the contradictions.

You're right, though, I'm not going to change anyone's mind by calling them stupid.

I figured something like that...oh well, not worth the effort, given Trump’s lead.

Interestingly, Trump gained 30,000 twitter supporters in the last 24 hours. His social media between twitter, facebook, and instagram is increasing by about 1 million per month.

That shows tremendous interest in Trump.

Not a single candidate comes close to this growth not even Hillary.

Trump is currently at 13 million subscribers on social media. Every month that goes by Trump increases by 1 million. This is how Trump neutralizes the media. Keep in mind with retweets Trump is reaching 26-39 million per day. The media cannot compete against this.

Those calling Trump supporters stupid assume they have moral authority. They simply have not earned it and as long as Trump has social media he keeps growing by numbers that no candidate can even come close to and the anti-Trump gang is ineffective.

Thoughtful assessment.

I've heard it said "Everything rises and falls on leadership." Only one candidate has demonstrated leadership during the campaign. For that reason alone I'm now solidly pro-Trump.

Cruz flubbed the "debate" and flubbed joining Trump, showing himself to be trapped in the status quo.

After 8 years of Whatshisname, my expectations are so low, I don’t think it’s possible to be disappointed. Just say’n.

I would argue that you are both correct and incorrect.

The incorrect part is about his business interests. Although many live forever in a rut, many chose to get out of the rut and do something different. Popularly, those in Florida at the Villages are shown playing endless golf or line dancing.

For others though there can be time for a new and perhaps difficult challenge. For the deal maker Trump who has left his business in the care of his kids, the Presidency and the deals to be made to make America strong again...... is a worthy challenge.

I whole heartedly agree with you Trump has been entertaining but I can’t believe anyone would seriously consider voting for him I’m afraid a trump presidency would be worse than Obama

Try voting multiple times and see what happens.

Easy. Refresh page and vote again. Use a different browser and vote again. Clear cache and vote again. All of these work.

People decide what they want to be true and then they see that reality everywhere if it is at all possible to rationalize. I have never been able to be a hyper fan of any personality for some reason. Never went screaming crazy over a singer or band or politician. Some of us are built to reach closure later rather than sooner. The sooner one goes to closure, the more the tendency to see out confirmation of the conclusion. The drive to be “right” is very compelling.

My fear for trump in iowa is that the gop will play dirty tricks. They'll cajole and/or threaten the trump supporters. Basically bribe them to caucus for anyone but Trump or Cruz and Jeb or Rubio will turn out to be the "surprise" winner in Iowa.

Very interesting line of non-reasoning there, FRiend.

You see some sappy ad by the government about not taking drugs and it influences the way you think about Trump.

You sound like a Hillary fan. That is how her people think.

I just tried it and voted 5 times in a row, each time increasing the vote count.
