It turns out that a world without Donald Trump is filled with Donald Trump anyway.
To many in the Republican Party, Thursday night's debate was a dream scenario -- seven candidates, and not a reality TV show billionaire in sight. No huge walls were hypothetically built, and no religious groups were banned from entry into the United States.
Yet Trump was still everywhere. He was there for viewers on another channel, giant American flag behind him, two other Republican candidates beside him, chants of "USA, USA, USA" enveloping them.
He was also there with the candidates as the "elephant not in the room," as moderator Megyn Kelly put it, or as Jeb Bush's non-showing "little teddy bear."
His absence was felt, moreover, when the leading candidates tangled over the hot-button issue of immigration. Trump wasn't there to take heat for them, or to face any real scrutiny of his own.
Trump's dominance in the race was revealed by the extent to which the debate lacked an obvious center of gravity. The party and its candidates have grown used to the front-runner; surely the same is true for viewers treated to a debate season like no other.

IMO, ailes will be fired before Monday. He is finished. Rino’s are leaving now.
Trumped!
I haven’t seen anyone squawk about the questions being asked. I didn’t watch the debate, but if someone did, where they all legit?
This from ABC? Wow!
Trump out foxed the nitworks of Ailes! Bye bye!
Yeah, Ailes got out a statement saying it wasn’t multiple calls to Trump and he was just trying to put the thing to bed to protect Megyn.
We all know he groveled because his job’s on the line. My sister said everyone else at Fox, producers et al, told Ailes not to send the press release but he went ahead..
Mark Levin’s head is exploding. Trump has won every single debate including the one he was not at.
Chris Wallace using Jeb's brother....
Sorry Cruz supporters, Trump was right to skip these jokers masquerading as moderators.
Faux news was playing checkers. Donald Trump was playing Chess. CHECKMATE!
Ha...wait till Trump Tweets about the relative size of the audience tonight.
Fox Flummoxed
Trump Triumphant.
Dims Discombobulated.
Rush may have to do one those ‘interventions’ for Levin after next Monday.
Senator Cruz behaves as a sniveling little weasel - “I suggest,” “I’d would note,” “I am the most this, I am the most that, and I am the most other thing,” etc. etc. ...
He drones on and on with his nasally lecturing - like an old school marm - blah-blah-blah!
The man is a junior senator, and yet his arrogant condescension towards others knows no boundaries.
He’s becoming a total turn-off.
Apparently Ted Cruz squawked about the questions during the debate.
Yea, someone linked the exchange between Cruz and Chris Wallace.
Then Wallace had to use Jeb's brother to justify a question about Iraq.
What a disgrace.
Fox should never get a debate again.
I would post a pic of the exploding head guy from Scanners, but I imagine it would be taken down.

Snoozed through, questions seemed legit. The three youtube setups were mild. Search for the word "question:" in the transcript (use the colon) and you'll find those. They were pretty mild too. I'm sure the questions would have been adjusted if Trump had been on the scene.
That is truly something to behold.
But one thing leaves me puzzled.
Who the Hell actually votes for Kasich!? Gotta be kidding me!
