WASHINGTON (CNN) - At least one veteran's group doesn't want any donations from Donald Trump's fundraiser for veterans. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America founder Paul Rieckhoff tweeted Wednesday that he would decline any contributions that came from the event, which Trump has proposed in place of his attending Fox News' debate this week.

“Nothing like letting your personal politics interfere with benefits for those you are supposed to represent.”

Exactly what I was thinking.

Did he ask the vets if they needed the money?

Trump has been supporting Wounded Warriors for years. Good to know this group has so much money they don’t need any more donations.

I hope Trump calls them “stupid,” and “losers,” and “third rate” veterans. I hope he gets really mad and says they’ve been unfair to him.

This “charity” is a fraud. You don’t turn down donations for those in need.

There is no doubt that the real destroyer of the liberties of any people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and largess.

Nobody gets hurt if Trump donates after the event is over. I am sure most Freepers, like me, donated to vets long before Trump came along and will donate long after he is gone. I said it was mistake to use vets as political cover before any of this happened. It won’t be determinative but I can tell you this. My wife who is a Trump fan, unlike me, did not have a positive reaction.

They will not make an endorsement in either the 2016 primaries or the general election in November.

So who asked them for an endorsement?

If Trump offers them money, they will not take it?

Enquiring minds want to know...or is this just a drama ploy?

It would seem to me that the correct thing to do would be to keep one's mouth shut until and unless a politician attempted to subvert or manipulate the organization.

And that would apply regardless of who the politician was...from Trump to Clinton to Cruz to Sanders.

The pot ain't boiling...why stir it?

I hope not.

“According to Charity Navigator, WWP allocates 55 percent of its revenue to program expenses and 44.8 percent to fundraising and administrative expenses. WWP received a “D” rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy, C+ by Charity Watch, and “three out of four stars” from Charity Navigator.”

Never heard of this group but got HUGE warning bells going off from a “legitimate charity” that refuses a legitimate donation with no strings attached.

I suspect John Kerry aficionados at work here.

Because Trump is using them as political props as cover for his tantrum. Trump could have held the event at any other time and it would have been cool. I said it was a mistake yesterday and I still think so today.

Of the boatload of dumb things you’ve said lately, this has to be the dumbest.

You will criticize anything Trump does out of your own personal hatred, which is fine because you only speak for yourself. But the leader of this group SHOULD BE looking out for veterans, not just his own personal likes and dislikes. His members should fire him.
