BLOOMFIELD, Iowa - James and Brooks Schooley are raising a young family in this tiny Iowa community. They support Ted Cruz and brought their kids to an old church near the Bloomfield town square to hear the candidate, along with Iowa Rep. Steve King and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
The Schooleys like Cruz's faith and his fealty to the Constitution. But their choice is also shaped by their wariness of the Republican front-runner, Donald Trump.
"He's not principled," James Schooley told me, referring to Trump. "He just goes by emotion."
"I feel like he doesn't stick to the Constitution the way Ted Cruz would," added Brooks. "Once you go away from that, then where's your standard? I mean, you can do anything."...

LOL, so Fox News is biased, but everyone should keep doing CNN, CBS, ABC, etc. debates?
You do realize that the whole point of a debate is to defend yourself against OPPOSING viewpoints?
You do realize that EVERYONE in the world is biased? When the president is negotiating with other countries, they’re not going to be on his side either.
Trump’s implosion has begun. He’s turning his candidacy into a complete joke.
If you just do a little research, you can easily find a long list of all of the failures Trump has had. There are a LOT of things he is not good at. The one thing he IS good at is self-promotion. At that, he is a genius. But the job of president requires a lot more than that, and Trump doesn't appear to have what it takes.
Ratings are already way down. The first Fox debate had 24 million. The last FoxBiz debate had 11 million. FoxBiz obviously is in less households. But Fox probably could’ve expected around 16 million for this one. Trump polls around 40% nationally, so if they got a 40% reduction they’d get about 10 million. I suspect not every pro-Trump person will not watch, because some of them no doubt like watching debates, so they’ll still get around 12-13 million.
The Democrat debate just got 10 million, so this isn’t going to be below that when it’s broadcast on a channel everyone gets.
Trump "won" the debates the same way Ron Paul "won" the straw polls and debates he was in. I give those online snap polls the same level of credibility.
Everybody is talking about how Donald Trump’s behavior is selfish, unstable, and unpresidential.
Byron York IS an idiot and an offensive idiot at that. Asked Michelle Bachmann during the 2012 debate if she’d be “submissive” to her husband when she ran for president. So what would he know of good taste - he of the really creepy lower lip!
Talking is one thing. Voting is something else.
Not all publicity is good publicity in politics. See Anthony Weiner.
Trump is not a coward. He is a player. He is NOT a team player. He is a me player. He doesn’t do a thing unless it is good for himself.
He wants to get the economy going so people can go to his casinos (how many freepers put down gambling but are going to nominate someone who owns casinos or made most of his money this way?), hotels, and golf courses.
He is worried the world economy will crash and the banks will call in all his loans and he will be on the streets of his beloved NYC with its streets flowing with the blood of the innocent unborn which he did nothing to prevent. NOTHING.
Will Trump match the donations he collects during his town hall?
If Cruz debated himself, no one would watch.
Get outside of NY or FR and nobody knows or cares about Weiner. But everyone knows about Donald Trump. What's funny is that the left has spent YEARS creating our celebrity culture and Trump is taking full advantage of it. Publicity and sound bites. Doing what it takes to get elected in a celebrity culture. And it's driving the left insane.
It’s funny that all of these “conservative columnists” go full throttle when going after Trump, but nary lift a finger to go after the Rats. For the past 7 years, where was this fight? Obama must not make them feel threatened. From the looks of it, Trump does. If if one says that Trump deserves this, then ask yourself, doesn’t Obama? And where have they been? #nocredibility.
If you don't fail once in a while, you're simply vegetating your way through life. In his environment, he probably fails more that most folks, but he also wins, and wins big! Now, I direct your attention to our “Congress!” They have a patent on failure! Will President Trump fail, sure! Will he win absolutely, unlike Cruz and the other “current and former government officials” who are running against him. Cruz hasn't been remotely successful as a Senator, neither has Paul or Rubio. And don't get me started on the 1%ers, who in many respects, are even worse that the three sitting Senators. I've actually had a mini-epihany of sorts in that I finally see the “conservatve movement” for what it really is, an abject failure. A bunch of idealogs who care more about their precious “principles” than in actually accomplishing anything of value for their country, Sure, I still believe as they do, but I can readily see that they are ineffective at leading because they are hidebound by their own dogmatic approach to government.
I was looking for what he has lost and was surprised that his Scottish, best in the world golf course, has lost money for the last three years.
Hey Bryon, bwahahahahahahahaha.
“I bash Conservatives all the time,,as many here on FR do because a majority of the current crop of GOPeers arenât worth spit!”
GOPeers aren’t Conservatives, they just call themselves conservative, to them the term conservative is nothing more than an obligatory campaign slogan.
“...if you scream loud enough someone will actually listen.”

Quiet...listen, what is that I hear in the distance? It sounds like Donald TRUMP’S (PEACE BE UPON HIM AND MAY HIS VALOR BE RESTORETH) subdued voice saying “DON’T CALL MY BLUFF”.

Nah, Cruz doesn't do stuff with himself.
Cruz debated himself in a 19-hour filibuster and singlehandedly sent shock waves around the world and directly led to a Republican sweep in the next election.
A total misdirection of what I said. Weiner embarrassed himself, got huge publicity for it and his political career self-destructed. Enter Trump and this disastrous debate decision.
Wait, didn’t you say his implosion was last July? Then August? Then Sept.?
Sorry, “the implosion has begun” meme a little old and utterly not credible. Try again.
