Rick Perry endorses Ted Cruz
Politico ^ | January 25, 2016 | Katie Glueck

Posted on 01/25/2016 1:18:38 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night.

Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, "knows what he does not know" and is more conservative than Trump.

"Of those individuals who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture, from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd," Perry said. "And that appears to be down to two people."

Perry, who is famously skilled at retail politics, will campaign with Cruz Tuesday across Iowa, and will join Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King to stump for Cruz again Wednesday. Perry and King will both join Cruz at a Des Moines rally Wednesday night.

The endorsement gives Cruz the blessing of the longest-serving governor in Texas history, just as the senator faces intensifying heat from other veteran politicians, including from his colleagues in Washington, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole.

Trump has never held elective office. Rick Perry has and he was a democrat in in 1980s. Big difference.

Further, you are not Conservative if you support Trump. Research Conservative and you will see I am correct. Trump supports ony 2-3 Conservative positions. Go to Slate for your compadres.

I've gotta admit, browsing your postings is actually incredibly illuminating. You've spent the morning quite smugly, haven't you? Attacking members of this forum who have the audacity (and apparently lack your vast mental capacity) to hold a position which is contrary to yours.

I, as a conservative, have voted for John McCain and Mitt Romney - two whom I am sure the vast majority, including the site's owner, hardly consider being conservative.

It used to be a very common rule on this forum, don't attack the person, attack the topic. I'm all for you passing on your beliefs, though I'd much rather have you campaign for your candidate. Why? Because you're damaging him with these unceasing attacks.

Jim has made it abundantly clear that he's open to supporting either of the front runners, and that the vile actions of - well, people like you, is directing his inclination away from Cruz and towards Trump.

I'm all for energetic and enlightened debate, but what I do not accept is your repeated attacks against other posters today.

Tone it down.

I remember your non-stop Perry posts....before your non-stop Walker posts.

What, in your opinion, is wrong with posting threads on FR in support of a candidate one likes?

This will either hurt him or have to effect at all. It sure as hell won’t help.

It could make a difference since Texas gets to join the primary session "early". It really depends on what Trump and Cruz's numbers are by Super Tuesday

None of the other campaigns has a vested interest in bring a suit, with the possible exception of Rubio. And if Cruz is not a NBC then neither is he. Fact is, all the suits can be filed that anyone wants to do, but if they are treated like ones against Obama they will be dismissed for lack of standing.

You describe my feelings about Trump.. At first I looked at him objectively.. then when he dodged Planned Parenthood, and other issues and trumpeted the " We will make America Great Again" slogan I knew he was dodging something very near and dear to my heart. We can seal the boarders, send home illegals ( which I AM in favor of by the way)... but rot internally as a country with abortion, gay marriage and socialist control of our property and money approved by President Trump... and we will still go down as a nation.

and unless we elect a Godly leader we are headed for more trouble.

Unless we turn back toward Israel we're going to be in big trouble...Aren't you with the bunch who says they will vote for the communists Bernie or Hillary if Trump is the only other choice??? Trump is the strongest candidate on Israel...

Perry is a Godly man, but we have so many Godless so-called Conservatives supporting Trump that we are in trouble.

There are tons and tons of Christians supporting Trump...

I think Rubio is also on shaky ground. But the birther stuff started with Hillary against Barack through an operative. If she manages to get the nod she will have a lot of support going after Cruz should he be the nominee. The Democrats are still angry about Republicans questioning Obama’s eligibility. I also think questioning O’s eligibility was proper.

The Democrats are masters at getting people kicked off ballots. That is how Obama got rid of opponents for his Senate; his challengers were disqualified and he won the Democratic primary unopposed in 1996

Gov Scott Walker is the fellow who, right out of the box in his first term (2011), revoked instate tuition for illegal aliens

Oh, that Sctott Walker...The GOPe hand picked contender who was supposed to be the leader in this whole thing...The second person to drop out of the race because no one wanted him either...

That is a wonderful testimony of Rick Perry and especially of Ted Cruz who has the ability to what is right and win. He does not need any flamboyant stage performance in his campaign.

He might better try it because at this rate the best he will do is become the 1st place loser...

Lolol ... Since Michelle’s mother lives in the White House, I was including Obama’s mother in the mix. :) But for the sake of true accuracy, I guess DT’s wife, then, would be the first.
