Rick Perry endorses Ted Cruz
Politico ^ | January 25, 2016 | Katie Glueck

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is endorsing Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, Perry told POLITICO in an interview Sunday night.

Perry, who also sought the GOP nomination before dropping out in September, said he now sees the race as one that is between Cruz, a fellow Texan, and Donald Trump. Through phone calls and during a December day spent driving around his Round Top, Texas, home in his truck with Cruz, Perry said he found the senator to be a good listener who respects the Tenth Amendment, "knows what he does not know" and is more conservative than Trump.

"Of those individuals who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture, from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd," Perry said. "And that appears to be down to two people."

Perry, who is famously skilled at retail politics, will campaign with Cruz Tuesday across Iowa, and will join Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King to stump for Cruz again Wednesday. Perry and King will both join Cruz at a Des Moines rally Wednesday night.

The endorsement gives Cruz the blessing of the longest-serving governor in Texas history, just as the senator faces intensifying heat from other veteran politicians, including from his colleagues in Washington, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole.

You don’t seem to understand irony.

You only have to read your post for a good example.

“I have never been a Bible thumping Revelations person or an End Times person or a God-is-punishing us person. But I think we have turned from God (abortions,10 Commandments,Obama, etc.) and unless we elect a Godly leader we are headed for more trouble. The arrogance of Trump troubles me. God will not be mocked.”

Yep. No Bible-thumping going on there.

Mr “I can’t remember” endorsement is not going to move many votes. Did you see Glen Beck administering the oath of office to Ted Cruz? Sickening. LOL, Ted Cruz couldn’t remember (the oath of office) either.

LOL, You can only hope they don’t go door to door for Cruz. Bless their hearts.

If people say they are voting for Trump, they may get a remark like that spewed at them. Argh

I do agree with you that Beck has a lot of less than desirable problems.
We will see how this week plays out.

LOL, I hadn’t thought of that! I knew vile supporters somehow reflect on their candidate, but you gave a perfect example of how!

It would actually be funny - the more people canvassing neighborhoods for Cruz, the more voters he loses.

“The last bits are interesting and informative.”

Read the whole article, agree with your comment...

From his first days in the Senate the GOPe and MSM have created this meme and caricature about Cruz....that he’s this angry, aloof, hot-headed pol who can’t get along with anyone...he’s the re-incarnation of Joe McCarthy. Whenever I’ve heard him speak in committee hearings or during encounters with hostile voters, Cruz is always polite and makes an effort to listen. He is also very determined to make his point and win the argument, to persuade with facts not bluster or ad homenim attacks. Many people just don’t want to believe that he is a very nice guy!

I was referring to those first nine presidents mentioned. Revise history in an attempt to justify present upheavals.

We have evolved from a mere suspicion of foreign birth to openly embracing dual citizenship. Aren’t we a cool, broad-minded bunch.

As one poster pointed out, the way it is going, in a few cycles, some (privately) radicalized Middle Eastern Muslim with an American mother will run for president, and you will be considered religiously intolerant and racist if you protest. But he will run as a pure conservative.

I would support Cruz if he would stop lying and blaming others. It is always someone else’s fault in his world. He stretches the imagination on truthfulness. Who wants that in a President. Plus not one Senate endorsement? Not even from the conservatives like Mike Lee? That is telling big time. If Mike Lee doesn’t trust Cruz then there is something wrong in Cruz. There has to be.

Trump 2016!

Indeed. Ted is in a bad place right now, because he somehow allowed Beck to lead him “astray”.

I used to like Glenn Beck a lot, back when he organized millions of people to gather in Washington to “Restore America’s Honor”, and other things like that. Then, somewhere along the line, he went off the rails.

I would hate to see Ted go down that path.

It’s becoming quite evident that this has become a spiritual battle!

I think that what is meant is that we have aired out this issue about all we can. Everyone knows the views on both sides. Cruz firmly believes he meets the qualifications for being a NBC. Trump would not have even raised this issue if Cruz hadn't started rising in the polls. He said as much in the last debate. That makes him a bit hypocritical cause he said only about 3 months ago that he had consulted top lawyers and he was completely satisfied that Cruz was an NBC. Guess he had to run to Lawrence Tribe (HUGEEEEEE Liberal) for another view.

The point is, we are not going to decide the question here. It will be decided in the courts. And here is a little prediction. The courts will find some way to blow this off. Courts in this country have been loathe to get involved in questions concerning the qualification of candidates, when there was views on both sides of the issue. With the exception of 2000 they have avoided making decisions that would change elections. Now, this one may be different, bout I doubt it. Why should we keep on beating a dead horse? Neither side will change the views of the other.

You have every right, until the moderator pulls your comments to bring up the issue. But others have every right to tell you to take it somewhere else.
