Sanders: I will beat Trump 'badly' in general election

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders on Sunday dismissed concerns that he can't win a general election.

Responding to comments from Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), who said he is unelectable, Sanders said he would beat Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump "badly" in a head-to-head matchup.

"Well, what I say to her is that if she would look at the matchups that are taking place between Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump right now, she would find that we were 15 points ahead of him nationally," Sanders said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

If the Trumpettes can totally alienate another 5% of conservatives, Sanders has a real shot.

From Bernie's all-time hero, Stalin:

The people who cast the votes don't decide an election, the people who count the votes do.

Bernie Sanders would be extensively repackaged for the general election. No mass media outlet will ever use the word "socialist" or even "left-wing" to describe him.

Also the idea of a GOP national election landslide is fun but no longer possible, due to the massive decrease in the number of Whites as a percentage of the electorate since 1984. Bernie could wear a North Vietnamese army uniform throughout the campaign and still win Mexifornia.

I think the GOP would still beat Sanders - but not by much.

As a general rule, in the primary season, the person who someone claims they will beat the most is the one they are most afraid of.

Well, if Sanders did win, it would prove everything that we say about this Country sliding into the Abyss is true.

It’s honestly sad when an old pol believes the MSM propping him up is actual reality.

I call that bold talk for an old dried-up man...

And especially if Michael Bloomberg jumped in as a third-party. Michael might even pick up a few electoral votes himself.

I wonder what “matchups” Bernie is referring to? Has anyone seen one and, if so, where is it to be found?

Yeh Bernie because nothing says electability like a 90% income tax. LOL!

I believe that 90% is the top *marginal* rate, which would kick in at $1,000,000 of Adjusted Gross Income. Not many of the 52% of folks who voted for Obama in 2012 would be affected by this.

My wife just informed me that her sister told her that she is voting for Sanders because he will give her family free health care. Her husband hasn’t had a steady job in eight years, collects thousands a month in disability (which are purely related to his obesity), and he sits around all day playing video games. He refuses to look for work and has consumed my wife’s parent’s entire retirement.

For people like my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, they are fine with a 90% tax. This is what we are up against in this country. I’m afraid that this kind of sales pitch will succeed because we have too many takers, mooches, free loaders, and dead beats in this country. Up until now I’ve managed to keep my mouth shut at family gatherings, but I’ve warned my wife that the day is fast approaching that I won’t be able to contain myself any longer.

Wow are you dreaming! No way in hell will Trump fold like Romney. Romney proved that “nice guy” doesn’t work anymore. People are angry they want to see blood.

It's times like this that I wish we went back to a much more brutal time, when such people would quickly die of starvation, exposure, and disease.

We need a lot more Darwinism at work in America.

It would be a real good thing to get rid of the sold-out backstabbing elitist sewage in the political mainstream. Sanders vs Trump would be a real good discussion of liberal vs conservative solutions to the problems that are destroying the US. I really believe that if we did that, conservative principles and solutions would prevail.

One thing for sure. An honest discussion based on philosophies would be a real good step in the correct direction.

Yeah, Bernie...that’s why the dems are cueing up Bloomberg, the VP, and the squaw to step in and run at the last minute.

Sanders belongs in a padded cell.
