As a child I was taught that oil came from the remains of the dinosaurs.

That was one of the theories back in the 1920's through the 50's, but in this case "dinosaurs" were only part of the ingredients. As it turned out, petroleum is the end product of composting organic matter--dead stuff--but not dead dinosaurs.

That school districts had this in their science books at one time never made it true. It was just that dinosaurs are the most interesting of all the organic matter that has left behind on the Earth, and what child does not love dinosaurs? Hence its popularity.

Actually, probably the greatest part of organic matter in and on the Earth is dead BACTERIA and other single celled creatures like algae.

"Is there any speculation on any of the shows today that Michael Bloomberg will be the Hillary replacement on the Dem ticket "

I suspect that Bloomberg would have a hard time convincing the Dems to let him on the ticket since he was elected mayor as a Republican and now calls himself an Independent. I agree, though, that he is a close fit to leftist Democrats. Let's hope that he runs as an independent and steals votes from the Dems.

I've seen the speculation about Bloomberg as an independent, but if his polling comes in at an acceptable level, and the alternative is Socialist Bernie or an ailing Hillary, the backroom Dems might toss Hilly over the side and talk Bloomberg into running.

And an ailing Hillary could be indicted on Monday, and pardoned by Baraq on Tuesday. I know the person should be found guilty before being pardoned based on law and precedence, but Baraq thinks the rules don't apply to him, so he can make up his own rules on this as well. (See "Pen and Phone" quotes for reference).

Donald opens up a yuge 11 point lead on Cruz in Iowa according to a new Fox Poll just released. Whether it be National Review’s hit piece or Palin’s endorsement that has contributed to the Trump surge, it looks like Donald may wire the field for the Republican nomination.

Thank you. I needed more coffee!

I knew it was .004%, but put that in the human part wrongly!

We had 60 degrees yesterday watching the East Coast freeze. Supposed to be the same today. How are the Keys?

I saw it. They also had Darrell Hammond playing Trump calling her a nut, etc. I like spoofs and good comedy as well as the next person, but what I saw from the skit, I thought it was a bit over the top!

This was a really good piece. Life and history does have some randomness and adaptation, but life itself was no accident, humans don’t exist by some “evolution” from dead soup to sentient beings, and the US constitution is likely a product of divine inspiration - not on the same level as the bible, but then, government isn’t on the same level as salvation.

I don’t think I misunderstood a thing. We were taught that oil came from the bones of dead ancient creatures....even that dinosaur logo AB used is an example of how this is taught, a play on the concept.

However you are correct about how oil was formed, witness my own revelation with the compost pile.

Obviously I don’t buy that oil came from the rotting bones of dinosaurs but as a young person I pondered that there were only so many dinosaurs and sooner or later the oil will run out. Which is probably what they wanted us to believe.

As I got older and began to garden with zeal is when I discovered, on a very small level, how oil is really made. And with this discovery, the knowledge that the production of oil is an ONGOING thing....which the liberals don’t want you to know.

Didn’t know it was the same way coal is formed but I believe it.

If the backroom polling shows Bloomberg winning the general and the other candidates looking like the reincarnation of George McGovern or Walter Mondale, details like a history as a Republican would mean little to the high moral value Dems.

Here is someone who will raise his hand and has an amazing theory that makes sense. What if everything we think we know is wrong?
http://www.wnd.com/2008/02/45838/

He says the earth produces oil naturally from the core and it is continually seeping up into pockets. That would mean God made an unending supply.

Any way you slice it Peak Oil was a fraud to stop the automobile as is Global Warming.

My Lightning round.

If one Republican could take all the good points from the last debate and condense it, they could focus on the real opponents, Democrats-any and all of their con jobs.

Trump is best on National Security, now if he would consider/argue for a flat tax he could run the whole table.

To answer Trump’s what needs to be figured out. All these Theocracies want their brand of Islam to dominate the world, that’s why you put a halt on immigration and visas. Democrats will cringe at the politically incorrectness.

Clinton uses ‘ah’ too much.

Martin O’Malley is really going to look fringe left for losing this one. Should have run right...

When are the people working on Wall-street going to stick up for themselves? Oh, after the election the media will allow it when it’s too late...

I follow you.

I think the myth that the PRESS (it’s always THEM at the bottom of everything!) has given us is that science is opposed to religion or faith.

MANY, many scientists, as they explore GOD’S CREATION, and what else is the Universe and all the things and processes and functionality of it, become profoundly moved by the beauty of it all, the precision of it, the just-so-ness of it that promotes life and wonder, that they cannot be disbelievers! (Ma, that is one long sentence!)

Einstein himself said so:

“What I am really interested in is knowing whether God could have created the world in a different way. Try and penetrate with our limited means the secrets of nature and you will find that, behind all the discernible concatenations, there remains something subtle, intangible and inexplicable. Veneration for this force beyond anything that we can comprehend is my religion. To that extent I am, in point of fact, religious. “

Who let Beck into the Cruz campaign? His speech was all about Beck and had nothing to do with Cruz and he has given it at least a dozen times. The swearing in was an embarrassment and looked stupid.

Cruz should have stayed away from him.

“the backroom Dems might toss Hilly over the side and talk Bloomberg into running.”

That’s quite possible, but I think Obama and ValJar want Biden and with Bloomberg’s ego, I don’t think he’d run as a VP. Plus, I think at least some of the Dims want a Biden-Fauxchontas ticket.

“And an ailing Hillary could be indicted on Monday, and pardoned by Baraq on Tuesday. I know the person should be found guilty before being pardoned based on law and precedence, but Baraq thinks the rules don’t apply to him, so he can make up his own rules on this as well. (See “Pen and Phone” quotes for reference).”

That wouldn’t surprise me. And, while I agree with your premise that someone should be found guilty before being pardoned, if memory serves correct (and correct me if I’m wrong), didn’t Ford pardon Nixon before he was found guilty?
