Donald Trump’s official voting record has been released, showing that he was a registered Republican since at least 1980, throwing water on the theory that he was at one time a Democrat.

This is causing major panic in the Cruz campaign that insisted that Trump recently switched his affiliation.

Voting records for Trump’s adult sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, were not immediately available.

Trump is leading by wide margins in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, and nearly every other state where pollsters take the Republican electorate’s temperature.

In Iowa, he is running neck-and-neck with Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in some polls, and leading him comfortably in others.

On Thursday in Las Vegas, Trump boasted of a new Emerson College poll that shows him leading Cruz there by 10 points.

‘Cruz is going down,’ he told a packed ballroom at the South Point casino. ‘He’s like a nervous wreck. He’s going down. He’s had his moment.’

The title of the Daily Mail article states:

“...New York records indicate he has NEVER voted in a Republican presidential primary...”

I assumed everyone understood we were talking about the “Presidential” primaries.

Did I say he didn’t?

Um, no.

The claim that was made was that he never switched parties.

That is ALL that I was addressing.

Untwist your undergarments.

That’s what the headline in the original article says...

He never voted in a Republican “Presidential” primary.

I thought it was obvious we were talking about “Presidential” primaries.

My mistake.

No, moovova, they were CORRECT about Trump's long party-switching history. It is DOCUMENTED. Even ABC news is cited at the end of this story as to Trump's party jumping. Just because some blogger comes along and tries to confuse the meaning of "R" doesn't change the fact.

Marie and moovova, how about instead of being sponges and letting other people manipulate your opinions, how about you two actually do a little work YOURSELVES and go online and google various sources (beyond The Smoking Gun) that will tell you about Trump's party switching past? Then come back here and try to claim with a straight face that he didn't switch parties frequently.

It is just one more blazing neon sign that Trump is a bad, bad risk. He and his supporters feel compelled to twist or outright ignore the truth, and deceive people (or outright lie) to "win" them to Trump's side.

It is absolutely disgusting. People here on FR should be ashamed, embarrassed, and if Trump wins, they will deserve EXACTLY all the lousy government crap he will bring down on them. The sad part is, the rest of us (which make up the MAJORITY, by the way) will have to help clean up the mess TRUMP VOTERS created because they were too weak and emotional to face Trump's flaws BEFORE they voted rather than after.

Trump, chump, and dump rhyme for a good reason.

Pay for the Wall:

Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things:

impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards - of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options].

We will not be taken advantage of anymore.

My point is that no less than one election cycle ago he was completely against even a soft Romney plan stating it was in humane. Now all of a sudden he is hardcore illegal immigration. This guy has had more positions then I’ve had shoes.

I guess it depends on what you want to believe, or whom you want to believe.

I can go up to post 171 on this thread and see where SUPPOSEDLY he voted for Democrats several times.

I can go with this, from PolitiFact (I know, I know, but still, this HAS been up until now not disputed by ANYONE that I’m aware of)

http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2015/aug/24/jeb-bush/bush-says-trump-was-democrat-longer-republican-las/

Plus, that also was from the New York City Board of Elections as the source. So which source got it wrong? We have one report citing the NYC Board of Elections to say he’s changed parties all these times. We have one report showing his supposed voting record saying he has always been and voted as a Republican. In the meantime, we have Trump himself with paperwork in his hand talking with Tim Russert saying he was breaking affiliation with the “crazy right” Republican party to join the Reform Party.

I’d like to see this from a source other than prntly, to be honest. If they have a reputation for lying about things, they could be lying about this.

Not that it’s a big deal to me. But what’s most telling is that Donald, TO MY KNOWLEDGE has never disputed VERY public reports and MULTIPLE articles written about all the times he’s switched parties.

I mean, the guy is threatening to sue the Washington Post if they run a story about one of his bankruptcies. Maybe they’re trying to smear him or lie about him. From the sounds of it he’s upset that they’re trying to make it sound like he personally filed for bankruptcy, at least in his mind.

Regardless, based on how he deals with such things, I’m pretty sure if the stories of his party switches up until now were indeed false, he’d be threatening to sue or yell about it in some other way if he thought it made him look bad.

You mean prntly.com might have twisted things to benefit Trump?

SURELY NOT!

I don’t care about his personal beliefs on an issue as much as I’m interest in his willingness to represent American voters’ beliefs on the that issue.

Next, does he have the good character to honor the deal he makes with voters to get elected.

At this point, I trust Trump’s good character more than any of the others.

I have no problem with your ridicule, but to make the claim you’re representing intelligent discourse is indeed pathetic.

In New York GOP Primaries are few and far between. In his Congressional District Carolyn Maloney hardly ever gets a GOP Opponent, much less one that needs to run a primary to get on the ballot.

The same holds true for local Assembly and Senate races. Rarely are there GOP candidates, much less GOP Primaries. Looking at larger elections, in 2005 & 2009 Bloomberg did not have a GOP opponent for Mayor.

http://vote.nyc.ny.us/html/results/2005.shtml
http://vote.nyc.ny.us/html/results/2009.shtml

In 2013, while registered as a Rep, DJT did in fact vote in the first contested Republican Mayoral Primary since 2001 (It was Catsimatides against Lhota).

For Presidential Primaries, New York had a contested GOP Primary in 2000, but DJT was a Democrat

http://www.nytimes.com/2000/02/24/us/the-2000-campaign-new-york-mccain-is-facing-labyrinth-a-k-a-new-york-s-primary.html

In 2004, the Presidential Primary was not contested as Bush had the table cleared for him.

In 2008 he was a registered DEM for their New York Presidential Primary and he did not vote, which surprises me that he did not vote in Obama vs Clinton. That would have been an interesting question to ask.

In the 2012 Presidential Primary DJT did not vote, likely because by the time the election in New York rolled around (4/24/2012) Romney had already secured the ballot position.

Finally in 2010 as a registered Rep, Trump voted in the September Primary election. On the ballot were Rick Lazio and Carl Paladino for a shot at facing Cuomo.

Trump voted in this election. Trump was one of only 8,840 people to go to the polls and vote.

http://vote.nyc.ny.us/downloads/pdf/results/2010/Primary/48.1CitywideRepGovernorRecap.pdf

To me that reflects the ultimate in civic responsibility. The man got out and went to the polls when he had a contested election that he was eligible to vote in.

I am not saying his voting record is perfect and certainly flipping back and forth between I, R, D and Blank is a bit disconcerting but his voting history reflects a person who takes time and votes.

How can that possibly be accurate? Trump public ally acknowledged he was registered as an independent around 1999/2000, and became a Democrat. Then he Swoitched to republican, then independent, then back to Republican to vote for Romney in the primary. Are you claiming he was lying and those records were forged?

Did you get this at the same place Obama got his birth certificate?

Well, everybody here has pretty much settled on Cruz, Trump, or both. I tend to be in the “both” camp. I think they have the makings of a good general election team.
