Washington D.C. is currently being bombarded with snowfall, so most government employees thought it would be best to take the day off.
I mean, if it's dangerous, then sure - take the day. But it's pretty typical of the government to do nothing while others go about their business, isn't it?
Check out what's happening during the blizzard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA...

I gotta admit - I’d be working hard to get supernumerary on a day like that!

If the Army and the Navy ever gaze on heavens scenes
They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.

Visited D.C. a few years ago for the 4th of July. It was on my bucket list to see the fireworks from the Lincoln Memorial. While we were there, we visited Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Watching the changing of the guard is a very moving experience, especially when you learn all these fine men have to go through, and how they must live their lives to be able to perform such a noble duty.
Just incredible. Thank you for sharing this story.

Two questions:
1) How long do they stand before the guards change?
2) What started this tradition of guarding the Tomb?
To: FourPeas
We took the boys to the Tomb of the Unknowns when they were ten and six. They were suitably impressed.
God bless these men during this storm and at all times.

Don’t worry. By Saturday the media will have figured out a way to blame it on the Republicans.

Please join me in praying for the health and safety of these Honor Guards and for all of our servicemen and women.
God bless our troops.

When we visited, think I remember reading/hearing the weapons are functional but unloaded.

1)They change every 30 minutes.
2)They’ve been guarding the Tomb continuously since 1947.
