Trump leads Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is in second place in the GOP race, among likely Republican caucus-goers, 37% to 26%

Sanders, meanwhile, has opened up an eight-point lead over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, leading her in Iowa 51% to 43%

Donald Trump holds a commanding lead in Iowa as Sen. Bernie Sanders takes control of the Democratic race in the critical first-in-the-nation voting state, according to a new CNN/ORC poll released Thursday.

Trump leads Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is in second place in the GOP race, among likely Republican caucus-goers, 37% to 26%. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, is in third at 14%, the only other Republican in double digits. Ben Carson failed to register half of Rubio's support and is in fourth place at 6%.

Trump over Cruz on economy, 54-16; on illegals 51-23; foreign policy 27-26; on SOCIAL ISSUES (!) 29-18; best chance of winning, 46-27; strongest leader, 47-27;

Cruz leads on "Best represents Republicans like myself," 29-28

GOP: Most important issues, economy #1 (37%), terrorism (20%), only 7% said immigration but I think this is folded into terrorism.

DEMS: economy #1 (46%!!) Key reason Trump will draw many of these people.

88% GOP say Washington does not represent their views (!!!!!)

Third poll with Trump over 34% in IA. If you count the straw poll it’s four.

Why do those numbers seem more realistic than the ones showing Cruz ahead? Why do the Cruz-ahead numbers seem kind of fake?

Anyway, if you’re a Trump supporter like me, it’s good news.

I’m still not sure TRUMP/CRUZ wouldn’t be a good ticket. Gotta get the two to kiss and makeup of course.

They are both fine but let’s face it, Trump knows how to win and he fights.

Cruz is great also.

Except you’re missing today’s big Emerson poll, which had Trump up 13?

“Why do the Cruz-ahead numbers seem kind of fake?”

After watching four aborted efforts to simulate saying grace - incidentally training the children to regard prayer as ‘optics’ - everything about him seems fake. Forgotten loans, forgotten citizenship, bankster CFR trophy wife with a psych record. All of it. Is Trump 100% authentic? No. No one who runs for office is. Ever. But parts of him do seem authentic. That is key.

CNN/ORC surveyed 2,002 Iowa adults by telephone Jan. 15 to Jan. 20, including 266 likely Republican presidential caucus-goers and 280 likely Democratic presidential caucus-goers. Both party samples have a margin of error of plus or minus six percentage points.

2,002 adults surveyed, but 266 likely Republican and 280 likely Democrat caucus goers. Those are odd looking numbers, but I guess that's just the way things work in a caucus state like Iowa.

Of course, none of those thousands of Trump supporters who brave bad weather for hours to attend a Trump rally will bother to show up at a caucus. They're all just Celebrity Apprentice fans.

“The sampling is key for both leaders: Only including voters who previously caucused in their party’s most recent competitive caucus, Cruz is neck-and-neck with Trump, with 30% for Cruz to 28% for Trump. Rubio is steady at 16% in that sample.”

“CNN/ORC surveyed 2,002 Iowa adults by telephone Jan. 15 to Jan. 20, including 266 likely Republican presidential caucus-goers and 280 likely Democratic presidential caucus-goers. Both party samples have a margin of error of plus or minus six percentage points.”

Outlier?

Poll designed to create an outcome/narrative vs. reporting on one?
