Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump late Wednesday pinned blame for his scriptural gaffe - saying "Two Corinthians" instead of "Second Corinthians" - on evangelical activist Tony Perkins.
"Tony Perkins wrote that out for me - he actually wrote out the 2, he wrote out the number 2 Corinthians," Trump said on "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon." "I took exactly what Tony said, and I said, 'Well, Tony has to know better than anybody.'"
The slip-up drew laughs from the crowd at evangelical Liberty University and has called into question the religiosity of the billionaire businessman.
But Trump said he has since heard from "a lot of people" who tell him that he was actually correct.
"It's a very small deal, but a lot of people in different sections of the world say 'two,' and I've had many, many people say to me," he said.
"My mother, as you know, was from Scotland, and they say two," he added.
He’s a Natural Born American Citizen who holds ALL of his allegiance to the United States . . which is enough to make me a Trumpeteer rather than a Cruznadian.
Yes - since you asked so sweetly - I support Sen. Ted Cruz (again). He’s my senator.
In fairness I have heard preachers open by referring to the second book as “Two Corinthians”.

When some scandal hits (and they always do), President Trump will say that he knew nothing about it until he saw it talked about on the Sunday shows...here is President Trump addressing the media...
“It’s a shame what happened to all those poor people living along the Keystone pipeline...I’ve got the Marines dropping off palettes of bottled water for these folks...my heart goes out to them...on their behalf, I hit my knees before bed last night and I read some 2 Corinthians from my personal family bible...you know I’m Presbyterian, most people are surprised, but, I’m a Big Presbyterian!
How did I hear about this crisis? Well, it was Sunday morning...Melania and I were in our silk jammies gnoshing on some fresh NY bagels and lox...BTW, Brooklyn bagel and lox are the best in the world, the Best!...when I’m listening to Chuck Todd and I hear this story about the Keystone pipeline leaking all over the place...I called Sarah on my new fancy top-secret secure iPhone, but she was up in Alaska with Todd competing in a snow-shoe race. So, I don’t know all the details right now, but I’m thinking the problem is the quality of the Chinese steel used to make the pipes...I negotiated a great price, a great price, a fantastic price with President Hu; you know, I have great respect for the Chinese and have a wonderful relationship with President Hu; I was talking to Hu about a beautiful new Trump hotel in Beijing right before the election...this is going to be the biggest and most luxurious resort that Trump has ever built; of course my kids are handling this now...but, I do know Hu very well and he’s a great guy, a great guy!
Anyway, I personally negotiated the Keystone steel pipes with President Hu and he gave us the steel pipes for free in exchange for a reduced tariff of 44%...boy, don’t tell anyone, but I really schlonged Hu on that deal...that’s because I’m smart, you know I went to an Ivy League school, Wharton...the Best, the Best!
It’s OK, we’ll get in contact with Sarah and get this pipe thing fixed....Sarah and I will be flying into Oklahoma next week to observe the environmental damages...God, the people of Oklahoma are the best. You know, my job approval rating is still very high, higher than any other former President...that’s what I’m told. We’re doing very well, very well!
I have been involved in the church, including teaching and leadership roles, for over 50 years. I have often been amazed at what a lot of regular churchgoers don’t know about their faith. One time a man came to me and said he had a Bible at home that did not begin with Genesis. I told him to bring it the next time he came to church. He did. He had a copy of the New Testament.
There is no indication that Trump is a regular churchgoer, or that he is particularly devout. But he also doesn’t have the thinly-veiled hostility toward religion exhibited by many in the ruling class. I’ll take that if I can’t get any better. The ongoing flap about Two Corinthians is beating a dead horse and a stupid diversion.
If I remember correctly you are now a very recent supporter of him are you not? It seems at least a week ago you were simply anti-Trump and uncommitted to Cruz. N’est pas?
Priceless!
And... “The Iranians let the American hostages go because they’re afraid of me.”
two corinthians walk into a bar.
they buy it.
then the donald has the government take it by imminent domain so he can put up a casino.
that is the real donald.
And your point?
I’ve made several points, which one are you referring to?
If Trump were as astute as a great many people hope he is, his response should have been, "I said it correctly. A good many people say it the way I do. End of story."
Trump Translation: I’m an ignorant phony, and the buck never stop here!
I have always said “Second Corinthians” but I have heard plenty of (non-ignorant, educated Christian) people say “Two Corinthians”. I wouldn’t bat an eye if I heard it said that way.
This is a tempest in a teapot.
I have my doubts that Trump is a church-going faithful Christian, but this is not “evidence.” Neither is it evidence of ignorance. To-may-toes. To-mah-toes.
Disclosure: Cruz is currently my first choice, but I would vote for Trump in order to beat Hitlery or Sanders.
That is one of the true hallmarks of a Liberal. It's Rule #2 in the Liberal Handbook; It's always someone else's fault.
Something to consider when pulling the lever in the coming months.
Go find another FReeper to irritate, I don’t play that game.
Right - there will be no slavish praise about how Trump “doubled down.”
So maybe Perkins is a good guy after all.
