Donald Trump, speaking to a religious crowd at Virginia's Liberty University on Monday, turned to scripture.
"We're going to protect Christianity. I can say that. I don't have to be politically correct," he said. "Two Corinthians, 3:17, that's the whole ballgame ... is that the one you like?"

Been waiting for that one. Falwell volunteered that DT had given $100,000 to some worthy cause. Am I close if I stipulate Donald's net worth at $10 Billion?
If so, that $100 grand is the same proportion as a person with net worth of $100,00 donating. $1.00.
I would be much much closer to the latter and, while not ashamed of it, I probably would not want it to be made known.
Sounds reasonable. However, I don’t know anyone , unrehearsed, who is perfect. And when things get out of hand.................anything goes.
Please do. I value actual feedback and good faith challenges.
We’ll have to part ways on that subject, friend. The Bible is God’s Holy Word. Not the Quran or anything else.
So Falwell talked of one hundred grand. Then we can add many other gifts to people we don’t know the amounts of....like a mortgage paid off, a farm saved from the banks, a Marine who received twenty five grand to help his life get back to normal, gifts of property for parks, gifts of this and gifts of that....for years and years....when he never claimed any credit and never asked for a dime back. Hmmmmmmmmmmm seems to me that is pretty much in the spirit of Christian giving.
Really? Two Corinthians is bungling? No wonder Christians can’t get along with themselves.
Yes, too many it is simply odd. It’s not the end of world though as some on this thread (from both sides) are trying to make it.
That’s not the case. It is getting play in the media and on social media.
2 Chronicles 7:14 is actually much more applicable to our day.
I doubt it is a familial pronunciation. Besides your anecdote and a few others on this thread, I’ve never heard it before. I found it odd.
In the grand scheme of things, it matters not. ISIS is trying to take over the world. Terrorism on our shores is a reality not a mere possibility. I don’t care if Trump thinks the Book of Job is about job creation during Biblical times.
You need to read your Bible again. They had kings in the OT, but the NT government was set up differently. Just think of the Muslim countries and Sharia Law - that isn’t what we want as far as having religion at the helm of our government, now do we?
That’s not what happened. The verse he quoted is the school verse for Liberty University. He referenced it for them.
And, you can speak for the thousands at Liberty University? Stay on your side of the stupid fence - where you belong. You Cruzbots are in desperation mode, and it shows. You can shove your candidate where the sun doesn’t shine.
So, two Corintians go into a bar...
A Corinthian, the first, was sitting at the bar nursing a drink and had to excuse himself post haste and he put a little sign on his drink to protect his drink from poachers and it read “I spit in this drink!” Whilst he was gone another Corinthian, the second, put his sign right next to the first Corinthian’s sign and it read “Me Two!
I concur.
I see what happened. "Two Corinthians".
I also tend to correct people when referencing the Book of Psalms - it would be "Psalm 73" not "Psalms 73".
A bit of a nit-pick, but also a bit telling that he referenced the verse in that way...
I listened to the whole speech
The crowd loved him
But y’all have fun
You did not obviously listen to the audio recording?
Oh well, that is normal for trumpers.
Desperation is the last thing you will here from me. I have been around too long.
You may think whatever you like - what is true is that the Bible and Blackstone form the precedence of American Law...
But Blackstone's chief contribution was to create a succinct, readable, and above all handy epitome of the common law tradition. While useful in England, Blackstone's text answered an urgent need in the developing United States and Canada. In the United States, the common law tradition was being spread into frontier areas, but it was not feasible for lawyers and judges to carry around the large libraries that contained the common law precedents. The four volumes of Blackstone put the gist of that tradition in portable form. They were required reading for most lawyers in the Colonies, and for many, they were the only reading. Blackstone's Whiggish but conservative vision of English law as a force to protect people, their liberty, and their property, had a deep impact on the ideologies that were cited in support of the American Revolution, and ultimately, the United States Constitution.

Vattel was all the rage in Europe, and undoubtedly under girds the enlightenment there - Europe's liberty being formed on the basis of man and science... American law necessarily allows for the Creator, and assumes protection of the rights given by Him as being the reason for government. Thus 'natural law' has always been Blackstone as observed through the prism of Hebraic law... The grand tradition of Blackstone being the 'natural law' of the Celts going back 1500 years.
What about it?
