Donald Trump, speaking to a religious crowd at Virginia's Liberty University on Monday, turned to scripture.
"We're going to protect Christianity. I can say that. I don't have to be politically correct," he said. "Two Corinthians, 3:17, that's the whole ballgame ... is that the one you like?"

Yes, they did. And some of them also pointed to the code of conduct. One does not preclude the other.
Agreed. It was awkward like an off-key note.
I seriously canât believe I wasted my time opening this bullshit.
People really have that much time on their hands debating the semantics of 2 vs 2nd???
Get a life people!!!
= = = = = = = = = =
Seriously. Waaaay too many people with nits to pick about an inconsequential reference, that really has no bearing on the political race.
[Yes, they did.]
Maybe your speakers and ears are better than mine but ,regardless, the whole thing will have a life span of a gnat.
Prolly.
Thought you and I might be able to engage on some sort of rational and civil basis.
Guess not.
LOL
I posted a rational explanation for why this is evil.
2 vs 2nd is not something worthy of trying to destroy someone over.
You couldn’t bite off on that, so you had to try to defend it.
Rational? Not hardly...
Yeah... That isn't what it says. We are certainly supposed to exercise discernment... One of those quick phrases that liberals like to haul out against Christians, We've all heard that before.
Trump himself, IMHO, needs to calm down and stop trying to prove his Christian bona fides.
I think it is clear that Christians, admittedly such as myself, are going to be at least a little skeptical regarding his great evangelical faith based upon the admission that he doesn’t really ask God for forgiveness and when you look at some aspects of his attitude and his life. I am not claiming to be perfect or that he should be perfect.
But the whole package- making a production of everything, taking a bible to every stop, saying it is his favorite book, trying to say “I am more evangelical than the Cuban”, stop trying so hard and stop pandering. Just be genuine about your beliefs and your level spiritually speaking.
I don’t go out and try to convince people I am some expert doctor. Trump shouldn’t try to out christian people.
That said, this is a silly criticism.
II - A Discordian Shall Always use the Official Discordian Document Numbering System.
So you’re calling me a liberal? Amusing that. Shows what little intelligence Cruz people have.
No D1... If you don't get the 'shibboleth' reference, you don't understand. That's all the article points out. Just another example of how 'he ain't one of us', while he claims he is.
For me, he's disqualified from the get go - I won't vote for a guy who makes money from casinos and strip clubs. Not going to happen, *ever*. End of story. And I am sure that many Christians agree with that.
Trump really doesn't have a righteous leg to stand on... Y'all can't defend what isn't there.
It is a big deal to the Cruzbots who don’t understand that God set up the government to be a separate entity from the church - whose mission it is to preach the gospel. He never gave that commission to the government. If these so-called purists knew their Bible - they would know this -but, they don’t. They think we are electing a Pope or a pastor to run the country. Render unto Caesar te ghings that are Caesars, and unto God the things that are Gods. I suspect, in addition to being politically naive, they are also Biblically naive.
Nobody is trying to or going to destroy Trump over this. Free Republic is not a safe space for snowflakes.
You are better at debate than your comments on this thread would indicate. Buck up.
I like it. Heh!
Not to mention the constant begging for money. IF Cruz truly had faith - he would trust God to supply his needs, not constantly beg for money from people. This is what televangelists do.
The bottom line is, 'how does he defend what he doesn't know?'
How do you know?Crystal ball in your bedroom?
If you already have a savior, why vote for Cruz?
