Even as GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz faces scrutiny over failing to disclose certain loans used in a previous Senate race, Donald Trump did not miss an opportunity to bring the Texas senator's Canadian birth into the mix.
As the New York Times reported, not only did Cruz fail to disclose a Goldman Sachs loan used for his 2012 Senate campaign, he also apparently failed to disclose a loan from Citibank for the same race. In a series of tweets Saturday morning, Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, eviscerated his fellow candidate and raised more questions regarding his citizenship.
"Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a 'natural born Canadian,' did he borrow unreported loans from [Canadian] banks," Trump tweeted.
Since Cruz has crept closer to Trump in polls, the business mogul has repeatedly raised questions over Cruz's eligibility to hold the office of president as he was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father.
"Ted Cruz said he 'didn't know' that he was a Canadian Citizen. He also FORGOT to file his Goldman Sachs Million $ loan papers. Not believable," Trump said in another tweet Saturday morning.
"Oh no, just reported that Ted Cruz didn't report another loan, this one from Citi. Wow, no wonder banks do so well in the U.S. Senate," Trump continued.
Trump also continued to criticized Cruz for comments he's made about "New York values" on the campaign trail and during Fox Business' Republican presidential debate Thursday.
"The Ted Cruz wiseguy apology to the people of New York is a disgrace. Remember, his wife's employer, and his lender, is located there!" Trump tweeted Saturday.
Cruz's wife, Heidi, announced last year that she was taking an unpaid leave of absence from Goldman Sachs...

I think you pinged the wrong post
Cruz did not say Trump was disqualified because his mother was not a citizen at birth. Cruz merely pointed out that if one used Trump’s own standard for himself, he is also not qualified.
Did it also upset you when folks were questioning Rubio's financial deals that seemed a bit suspicious?
We seem to have a lot of situational moralists here these days (for both Trump and Cruz) who will see what isn't there when it's convenient and who will ignore what may be there when that's convenient.
They much the low-info voters and then decide that some info needs to be swept under the rug so their "principles" can be spewed w/o any pangs of conscience....
No just thinking.Trump usually drops clues before he goes in for the kill.
You are the one with twisted panties my friend. My post said he admitted a MISTAKE. Even you are capable of a mistake. He didn’t hide it or lie. So what is your problem? Just looking for some slight to Cruz? Being big enough to admit a mistake isn’t a fault it shows integrity in the issue.
Ted Cruz’s Full Speech At South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention Todayhttp://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3384618/posts
There was even a pathetic hit on Trump’s age. Cruz is punching way above his level. He already just about got KOed in a “youth and inexperience” moment when he doubled down on his NY values statement at the debate.
Both Cruz’s and Trump’s speeches are on the link on that thread. I watched both. Ted’s hit parts are sad, and the crowd response is weak compared to Trump’s. Ted hit on Trump for WAY longer than the 35 seconds Trump talked about Ted. Trump was direct and factual, Ted was not.
Why did not Cruz cite the Constitutional law that he is eligible? Because he cannot. There is no question about Trump’s eligibility. And Cruz knows that. Questioning Trump’s natural born status was a deception and shows Cruz to be a fraud. Some may think it is no big deal because Cruz says what they want to hear. But I am not among those who think it is conservative values to flaunt the Constitution.
You may be right on predicting the future.
The way âClyde Barnumâ Trump is becoming so nasty with his none issues and innuendos against Cruz shows that he is growing very desperate and shows just what we really could expect when President Trump doesn’t get his way.
We all must be very carful of what we wish for in Trump.
I hope it doesn’t come down to Trump or any dem. I’d still have to pick the lesser evil and roll the dice on Trump.
Donald Clyde Barnum’s non-stop innuendos are a BIG problem for Trump.
He has no real ammo against Cruz, so keep asking empty questions, some of the lemmings will keep wanting to see the side show.
Because the Constitution does not define natural born citizen. The U.S. Statutes define it and since Cruz had one U.S. Citizen as a parent, he is considered to be a natural born citizen.
Why don't you research the law of nations and the common law that existed at the time of the passing of the Constitution. If you actually did the research, you'd find some interesting things.
Trump's mother was not born in the U.S., yet Trump claims there is a difference because he was born on U.S. soil. If you insist on looking at the Constitution, point to the provision that makes him a natural born citizen. You can't.
Show me where Cruz questioned Trump's natural born status. He didn't. He was simply stating that based on Trump's own logic, Trump would also be unqualified if Cruz was unqualified.
Trump is arrogant. Claims he is a Christian yet never asked God to forgive him for anything. In terms of arrogance, not really any different than Obama. Trump would be much, much better for the country than Obama, but that doesn’t mean Trump isn’t very arrogant.
If Trump is the nominee, you can expect many conservative Christians to stay home.
The real controversy is will we as a nation follow original intent of the founders or do we follow the liberals lead in the Constitution is a living breathing document.
Original intent gave only a US citizen father ability to pass on natural born standing.
Tribe, Cruz's former law professor has no problem with the concept of living breathing Constitution... But he also rightly points out Cruz has claimed he believes in ‘original’ intent... Except for himself.
But Donald Barnum Trump can not deny voting for nobama in 2008.
And the lemmings off they go for the cliff right behind the Pied Piper Clyde Barnum Trump, who gleefully blind to his vote for nobama in 2008.
Original intent of who can pass on natural standing comes from the father not the mother...
Very very telling to be standing by the words of an avowed anti-American Lawrence Tribe, then again Trump voting for nobama doesn’t seem to give you a problem.
Who Cruz is is the issue... Cruz claims original intent of the Constitution, but exempts himself... Cruz is NOT natural born, original intent of presidential requirement. This is not rocket science... Cruz is not Natural Born, and he knows it.
Please cite the specific constitutional and statutory provisions that support your claims.
You sure that wan't Penn that said that? Maybe Penn said "Have you no shame sir." Been a long time since I heard any of that old stuff. If I was wrong I stand corrected.
