Even as GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz faces scrutiny over failing to disclose certain loans used in a previous Senate race, Donald Trump did not miss an opportunity to bring the Texas senator's Canadian birth into the mix.
As the New York Times reported, not only did Cruz fail to disclose a Goldman Sachs loan used for his 2012 Senate campaign, he also apparently failed to disclose a loan from Citibank for the same race. In a series of tweets Saturday morning, Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, eviscerated his fellow candidate and raised more questions regarding his citizenship.
"Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a 'natural born Canadian,' did he borrow unreported loans from [Canadian] banks," Trump tweeted.
Since Cruz has crept closer to Trump in polls, the business mogul has repeatedly raised questions over Cruz's eligibility to hold the office of president as he was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father.
"Ted Cruz said he 'didn't know' that he was a Canadian Citizen. He also FORGOT to file his Goldman Sachs Million $ loan papers. Not believable," Trump said in another tweet Saturday morning.
"Oh no, just reported that Ted Cruz didn't report another loan, this one from Citi. Wow, no wonder banks do so well in the U.S. Senate," Trump continued.
Trump also continued to criticized Cruz for comments he's made about "New York values" on the campaign trail and during Fox Business' Republican presidential debate Thursday.
"The Ted Cruz wiseguy apology to the people of New York is a disgrace. Remember, his wife's employer, and his lender, is located there!" Trump tweeted Saturday.
Cruz's wife, Heidi, announced last year that she was taking an unpaid leave of absence from Goldman Sachs...

And his mother was of “legal age of majority” and by law could convey citizenship to her child, and his father became naturalised too.
The people who are being honest are saying “both candidates have issues”.
The ones NOT being honest are trying to whitewash all problems with one or the other.
I am not totally ‘sold’ on Trump... but less important presently after the shock to my reality that Cruz is a fake. Open borders sure does seem to be the agenda...
Better do more homework. Presidential requirements are specific. Cruz knows he is NOT eligible. A mother was not cited to legally confer ‘natural born’ standing. Only father could. Cruz knows he is NOT constitutionally eligible to hold the office of president... Else he would have given those who watched him, the specific ‘CODE’ that gives him standing.
He did not because he could not. He went off into deep dark muddy waters and made the stupid claim that Trump’s eligibility was questionable. DUMB move for a Harvard Scholar.

Trump said he supports abortion, and he supports gun bans.
Last candidate we had that evolved his positions on such things was Romney.
Please understand, both candidates have issues.
Interestingly, both have parental issues.
And we have posters yanking chains and trolling.
See post 85.
Do they offer pet insurance for such critters. I can imagine the premiums would be way up there, like somewhere in Northern Canada. :)
Heck, I recall alot.
Just wish the snark and nastiness would stop.
I like when folks take it the next step.
That was funny.
It won't stop until we get better candidates. While Trump may be the best of the lot (think about that for a second), what does that really say about the entire group of candidates that have been thrown at us? Is this really the best this country can do?
Please read both links. We are being played and some very good Freepers are being sucked into it. Thanks.
What does it say?
We won’t get anything better until people get angry enough that pitchforks and torches are on a fire sale, and politicians run scared, hiding in their spiderholes from the “unwashed masses”.
Real classy of you.
I agree with that right there! FR has become something I hardly recognize.
Has a similar photo surfaced that includes Ted Cruz? Nah, I didn't think so.
Of course we are being played. Recall Duncan Hunter and what the GOP did to him to secure a McCain nomination?
And the shenanigans pulled to see the a Romney nomination?
My cynicism tells me we will see bullcrap the likes of which has never before been.
Possibly to hand us a Heb! Bush nomination through chicanery.
I will be shocked if any outcome other than that happens.
(I don’t trust the RNC/GOP leadership, not one bit.)
Why one might wonder does it not bother you that Cruz and Rubio both began running for President as soon as they were elected to the Senate?
You do know of course that the author of that remark is Sean Penn's commie daddy right?
