Trump Hits Cruz on Loans, Citizenship: ‘Did He Borrow Unreported Loans From Canadian Banks?’
The Blaze ^ | 1/16/2016 | Kaitlyn Schallhorn

Even as GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz faces scrutiny over failing to disclose certain loans used in a previous Senate race, Donald Trump did not miss an opportunity to bring the Texas senator's Canadian birth into the mix.

As the New York Times reported, not only did Cruz fail to disclose a Goldman Sachs loan used for his 2012 Senate campaign, he also apparently failed to disclose a loan from Citibank for the same race. In a series of tweets Saturday morning, Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, eviscerated his fellow candidate and raised more questions regarding his citizenship.

"Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a 'natural born Canadian,' did he borrow unreported loans from [Canadian] banks," Trump tweeted.

Since Cruz has crept closer to Trump in polls, the business mogul has repeatedly raised questions over Cruz's eligibility to hold the office of president as he was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father.

"Ted Cruz said he 'didn't know' that he was a Canadian Citizen. He also FORGOT to file his Goldman Sachs Million $ loan papers. Not believable," Trump said in another tweet Saturday morning.

"Oh no, just reported that Ted Cruz didn't report another loan, this one from Citi. Wow, no wonder banks do so well in the U.S. Senate," Trump continued.

Trump also continued to criticized Cruz for comments he's made about "New York values" on the campaign trail and during Fox Business' Republican presidential debate Thursday.

"The Ted Cruz wiseguy apology to the people of New York is a disgrace. Remember, his wife's employer, and his lender, is located there!" Trump tweeted Saturday.

Cruz's wife, Heidi, announced last year that she was taking an unpaid leave of absence from Goldman Sachs...

You are off the grid with your analysis. Trump is highlighting Cruz’s hypocrisy - and outing him for the liar that he is.

I don’t think Trump has to borrow money from Goldman Sachs or Citibank
to fund his campaign if you know what I mean.

This isn’t the ame as filing with the FEC - imbecile. He left 2 loans off that filing - the GS and Citibank loans.

And just what is little Teddy going to do to change abortion or same-sex marriage? Not a darned thing - just like any other president has done. You people are delusional if you think Teddy Bear, Soccer Ball, Cruz is going to change a danred thing about these issues. Grow up! Reagan didn’t, and neither Bush did. These issues need to go to the states to take care of them.

Actually FEC is worse because that is what is used to run for President. He knew exactly what he was doing. But he got caught. Actually he was dumb for thinking he could get away with it. He just didn’t want GS to be front and center in his campaign. He is a snake though.

Dear God, please open this fool’s eyes to the good things that Trump has done in his lifetime vs. nothing that Cruz has done in his lifetime. I don’t know if you are a male or female, but, you certainly are ignorant.

No. Trump is screaming because he isn’t getting his way. Just like a petulant liberal. He is throwing an Obama hissy fit. He is a spoiled liberal leaning brat.

Who said law breaker. May morals breaker, ethics breaker but I never put law breaker. He is clearly having memory problems and that is concerning for a job as President. He may not be equipped to handle the job if he forgets things. Should at least be considered before we give him access to Nukes.

You frickin’ idiot - most people would get mad when someone attacks their mother. You Cruzbots are so immature - maybe we need a litmus test to determine your eligibility to vote.

Many of us who support Trump also support Cruz. Would be happy with either as the nominee. However, prefer Trump as the President Elect for many reasons.

So weird that while Trump has been bashed by liberal media for months on end, and all New York Politicians will endorse and vote for Hillary over Trump, some continue to try and say Trump is supported by the same liberals bash him all the time.

Coming up with these nonsensical arguments trying to link Trump to liberals, when everyone has seen how bashed Trump has been since he announced his candidacy, appears to be not well thought out. Not reality and quite frankly laughable after seeing how trashed Trump has been by the Left. Trump has been bashed by both the liberal media and RNC on a daily basis. It doesn’t make sense.

While Trump was being an extreme left Democrat, what was Cruz doing? Winning landmark cases protecting the Constitution and our God given rights of religious freedom and to keep and bear arms. He also preserved state’s rights and US sovereignty.

Who is the conservative again? What has Trump done for America again?

What was “solid conservative” Ted Cruz doing when Kate Steinle was lying in the street bleeding to death? Having a cocktail in DC? Criminal aliens would have never become an issue had Trump not made it one. The beltway, Cruz included, can’t be bothered to take action against sanctuary cities.

There is no ideal conservative in this race. Your infatuation with Ted Cruz prevents you from seeing that. I’ve supported both Cruz and Trump. They’ve both got warts. Let me help you see Ted’s.

How many butchered babies has “solid conservative” Cruz saved? Zero. His fairy tale social conservative agenda will never make it through this rotten Congress.

Who has has campaigned for Barack Obama’s trade agenda? Ted Cruz.

Who has he authored a Senate bill massively increasing the American job killing H-1B visa program? Ted Cruz.

I could support either Cruz or Trump in the general. I’ll buy you a clue: you should do that too.

And, are you the same person you were 20 or 30 years ago? Where were you when Trump was helping out Ronald Reagan’s campaign by allowing him to use his offices and personally flying him to NH so that he didn’t miss the deadline to get on the ballot. Is this the past you are talking about? He helped McCain raise a lot of money for his bed as well - is this the past you can’t trust? He also supported Romney’s bid and donated. Is this the past you are talking about? He gave $350,000 to the Republican Governor’s Asso. Is this the past you are referring to? Sure, he gave to DEMS too, but, most o f you on here are so business illiterates, that I don’t want to waste my time explaining this to you. Just live in your little cocoon of purity and ignorance.

It is adding up and that is why I think we are being played.

Cruz was my first choice, however I was very concerned about the TPA vote, Corker Bill, and the push for dramatic increases in H1B visas.

Cruz fell to second for a number of reasons, however the realization we were being played by the uniparty weighed heavily as the primary reason.

Looking into his background and NBC status was the final reason to dump him. Why did he wait to 2014 to denounce his Canadian citizenship? I think big money got to him. That would be the uniparty. More troubling was his failure to denounce his citizenship when he ran for the senate.

For disclosure, I made some large donations to his campaign originally. What I got in return was uniparty spamming for more money. Worse, they came from the NRSC too. It was completely out of control in a couple of weeks. This did not indicate that Senator Cruz was running against the status quo. Senator Cruz was the NRSC, uniparty and status quo.

I signed those donations on the front side. I am convinced some of our trolls here sign the checks on the back side.

Look you little sack of statist dung your IQ is not within two sigmas of mine after I pass. I posted the form in response to one of your ignorant buddies who said Cruz had “not reported his loans”. He reported his loans to the Senate and inadvertently not to the FEC which is no crime with no penalty except to give little shits like you something to whine about.

How about a little whine for all those creditors Trump left holding the empty bag when he declared bankruptcy time after time. Or the 9/11 survivors who Trump could not be bothered to donate a dime of his billions to.

So, in the general election when a Hillary has a change of heart and says she is pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, and wants to build a wall then we can all vote for Hillary. She will obviously be a conservative because she says so.

Golly gee, what isn’t he getting his way about? You are a moron. Most of you believe that Trump stole Cruz’s platforms, and then call Trump a liberal. With that rationale - Cruz is a liberal too. Grow up. Trump is a man, little Teddy is a boy.

I agree, I don’t know about how you feel, but it seems like Trump and Cruz are playing a Kabuki Theater with the Establishment (inc. Media) just like the Political Establishment plays Kabuki Theater with us.

jwalsh07 has been told about the failure to disclose. He just doesn’t quite get it. And and motives for doing exactly what Mr. Cruz did clearly seem evasive and deceptive.
