Even as GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz faces scrutiny over failing to disclose certain loans used in a previous Senate race, Donald Trump did not miss an opportunity to bring the Texas senator's Canadian birth into the mix.
As the New York Times reported, not only did Cruz fail to disclose a Goldman Sachs loan used for his 2012 Senate campaign, he also apparently failed to disclose a loan from Citibank for the same race. In a series of tweets Saturday morning, Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, eviscerated his fellow candidate and raised more questions regarding his citizenship.
"Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a 'natural born Canadian,' did he borrow unreported loans from [Canadian] banks," Trump tweeted.
Since Cruz has crept closer to Trump in polls, the business mogul has repeatedly raised questions over Cruz's eligibility to hold the office of president as he was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father.
"Ted Cruz said he 'didn't know' that he was a Canadian Citizen. He also FORGOT to file his Goldman Sachs Million $ loan papers. Not believable," Trump said in another tweet Saturday morning.
"Oh no, just reported that Ted Cruz didn't report another loan, this one from Citi. Wow, no wonder banks do so well in the U.S. Senate," Trump continued.
Trump also continued to criticized Cruz for comments he's made about "New York values" on the campaign trail and during Fox Business' Republican presidential debate Thursday.
"The Ted Cruz wiseguy apology to the people of New York is a disgrace. Remember, his wife's employer, and his lender, is located there!" Trump tweeted Saturday.
Cruz's wife, Heidi, announced last year that she was taking an unpaid leave of absence from Goldman Sachs...

Ah, the “beautiful people”, “power couples”, “movers and shakers”, all together in one glib photo.
Has a similar photo surfaced that includes Ted Cruz? Nah, I didn’t think so.
Your tag line cracks me up, by the way.
the #realmrTweety is getting really TEDIOUS
why not tweet about the details of that WALL that the mexicans are supposedly going to pay for???
naw no chance of that.... thats just more jibber jabber
Thank you.
the middle of next week or next month donny going to crash and burn.
I think you’re right.
However I’m having fun throwing sand in the Cruzians’ faces.
They certainly deserve it.
Why, because Cruz is being vetted?? Boohoo. Get 9ver it!!!
At least Cruz pays back his loans.
Yeah but kind of left out filling with the Federal Election Commission. Whole different animal.
What about Ted’s thinly veiled and sarcastic attacks on Trump today at the tea party event? Even the audience wasn’t impressed. It was sad to watch.
Sounds like Trump and Cruz have become like Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, but which is which? I think Ted fills the role of The Kid.
Come now, it’s simple. Like an annual savings of $2500 a year on health insurance and a reduction in national debt. Haven’t you heard??
decency? theres ever so little about don thats authentic.
the hair..yea sure...
OUCH! lol!
trump’s mother wears combat boots
I think Trump has finally lost all patience with Cruz’s sneaky little attacks. NY values was low but stating that Trump’s mother wasn’t a citizen was really low. I was watching Trump’s face as Cruz was speaking and he looked really angry.
Cruz has been picking at Trump for months, behind the scenes and with innuendo. I think Trump has decided to get rid of Cruz for once and all and will go all out to crush him.
it was predicted here by some crazy guy a few days ago.....
This forum has become such that you have no choice but to pick one or the other.
The way Trump has gone into the gutter to destroy Cruz tells me that he is not my guy.
Cruz is the proven leader on Moral issues. Moral issues are more important to me than fiscal issues because if America loses its moral footing, then we have no country left to stand on.
I was pretty much ambivalent a week ago, but at this point you have to pick a side. The war is on. There is no standing in the middle unless you want to get shot at from both sides.
Unless there is a candidate more committed to what I believe spiritually than Ted Cruz, then I am going totally in for Ted.
No more walking the middle for me.
Trump has not left that option open.
