Donald Trump must be feeling the heat of Ted Cruz on his neck because he unleashed a veritable tirade against the Texas senator on Twitter Saturday.
He started just before 8 a.m EST flat-out calling Cruz a Canadian citizen.
Ted Cruz was born in Canada and was a Canadian citizen until 15 months ago. Lawsuits have just been filed with more to follow. I told you so - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
For the next several hours the Republican presidential front-runner just unloaded with tweet after tweet, most of them coming within minutes of each other.
Ted Cruz said he “didn’t know” that he was a Canadian Citizen. He also FORGOT to file his Goldman Sachs Million $ loan papers. Not believable - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Was there another loan that Ted Cruz FORGOT to file. Goldman Sachs owns him, he will do anything they demand. Not much of a reformer! - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
The Ted Cruz wiseguy apology to the people of New York is a disgrace. Remember, his wife’s employer, and his lender, is located there! - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Oh no, just reported that Ted Cruz didn’t report another loan, this one from Citi. Wow, no wonder banks do so well in the U.S. Senate. - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |

Based on the fact that Ted Cruz was born in Canada and is therefore a “natural-born Canadian,” did he borrow unreported loans from C banks? - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Ted Cruz purposely, and illegally, did not list on his personal disclosure form personally guaranteed loans from banks. They own him! - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Syndicated columnist Phil Kerpen corrected him but that wasn’t going to stop Trump.
Might want to actually look at that personal disclosure form. All the loans are there. @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/ptudBHg7ix - Phil Kerpen (@kerpen) January 16, 2016 |
Ted is the ultimate hypocrite. Says one thing for money, does another for votes. https://t.co/hxdfy0mjVw - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Cruz responded to Trump’s rant on Saturday at a church outside of Charlotte where he was making an appearance.
"I would note that Donald's record does not match what he says as a candidate," he told reporters according to CNN.
"I imagine it pulled him out of bed this morning and send him tweeting and tweeting and tweeting," he said. "I think in terms of a commander-in-chief, we ought to have someone who isn't springing out of bed to tweet in a frantic response to the latest poll.”
Trump, however continued his Twitter attacks.
If Ted Cruz is so opposed to gay marriage, why did he accept money from people who espouse gay marriage? - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Including, what might have been his most absurd comment, suggesting that Cruz should be “kicked out of politics.”
Everybody that loves the people of New York, and all they have been thru, should get hypocrites like Ted Cruz out of politics! - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
But wait there’s more.
When will @TedCruz give all the New York based campaign contributions back to the special interests that control him. - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Greatly dishonest of @TedCruz to file a financial disclosure form & not list his lending banks- then pretend he is going to clean up Wall St - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Wow! Ted Cruz received $487K in campaign contributions, $11M from a NY hedge fund mogul, & $1M low int. loan from Goldman Sachs. Hypocrite - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Is this the New York that Ted Cruz is talking about & demeaning? pic.twitter.com/rYGX9vazku - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 16, 2016 |
Good. Thousands of newbie trolls getting the education of their lives. I hope some of them become true conservatives to add to our numbers. I also hope they contribute to FR to support this major-league website.
“Man up Cruzbots you sound like crying babies over this..”
Trump is the one pissing in his panties.
If Cruz doesn’t soon start a barrage of negative ads against Trump, I’ve gotta question whether he’s man enough for the POTUS job.
About a dozen are bound to be on Trump’s payroll. They are here around the clock.
You are a Damn fool then.
@realDonaldTrump has given $84K to @NYGovCuomo, who says conservatives have no place in NY because they donât share #NewYorkValues
No one gets by with only 4-5 hours of sleep per day without son “help”.
Then again, he may be sleeping while he’s flying around.
>> Trump does not sleep.
Seems that way... he just lays in bed and plays with his tweeter.
LOL!
Bump.
Seriously Trump not donating to 9-11 victims then donating to the Clinton Foundation, they the coward tries to hide behind 9-11 rather than discuss policies he has supported.
What a fraud this clown is.
I absolutely disagree. “New York values” rather obviously means the values of New Yorkers, regardless of how anyone wants to spin it now, and the first responders during 9/11 were New Yorkers. Nobody held their New York values against them right after they sacrificed their lives for others. Cruz could have stuck to attacking specific liberal issues (a couple of which he very briefly mentioned, along with his vague attack on the NY media and money), but he chose instead primarily to target an entire city (well, state really, since he didn’t specify). I don’t think that is a good move for someone running for president of the entire United States. This among other things is convincing me more and more that Cruz would have little chance of winning the purple states, much less any blue ones. I know if a left-wing candidate said the same things in reverse about the South as a form of criticism, I would be irate.
Trump defended his home from a one-sided attack. Good for him, because bravery, resilience, and industriousness are also “New York values.” Trump didn’t cheat; he showed the other side of the equation. What Cruz did may have been a good move in Iowa—we will see, but it may well have been suicidal in large swaths of the rest of the country among people who are not already big Cruz supporters (and I’m speaking as a Southerner originally from Virginia, who has always liked Cruz even though I’m a Trump supporter. I’ve been to NYC well over a dozen times also).
Don’t kid yourself that you are “savvy.” You are simply biased in favor of Cruz and against Trump, and that informs your opinions.
I defended him here when he was attacked at the first debate. It sickens me that he has turned out to be this way. Feel like I owe Megyn Kelly an apology now.
I’m glad Cruz brought up NY values because it revealed who Trump really is. Was willing to support either candidate up until the last debate but have favored Cruz from the get go. He’s a conservative constitutional Christian candidate which is what our country is going to need to pull us back from the brink of disaster.
Churchill did all through WWII. Buckminster Fuller went decades with a total of 2 hours per day, a half hour nap every 6 hours.
If anyone has a cult of personality around here it’s the Cruz or Losers. Just look at the graphics. St. Ted is a combination of Superman, Obi Wan Kenobi and the Dukes of Hazard rolled into one.
