Take it up with Trump please. In this video Trump said his completely pro choice views were due in part to growing up and living in New York City.

Cruz crushed Trump on the birther issue in the debate. The birther issue is dead after last night.

This video was from 1999 not 1991.

And I wouldn't have voted for Cruz either in 99. He was still Canadian.

Thank you for that. That made me laugh so hard, I almost dropped my tablet!

My question Trump fans is, just how old was Trump before “he realized” he was against killing babies, even moments before they drew their first breath?

My question to you is how many butchered PP babies has Ted Cruz saved? Zero. Same as Trump. How many babies has PP killed while Cruz has been sipping cocktails in the beltway? You’re being duped by Cruz’s social conservatism campaign rhetoric. This is a generational battle and a POTUS Cruz is no more able to stop the baby killing homo agenda than a POTUS Trump would.

It’s kind of pointless for me to respond.

Nothing I could say would mean anything to you.

That’s okay.

how many people go from pro abortion to pro life and vice versa after 40?

You raised this point, and I told you what changes on this subject I incorporated into my life after 40.

If I could do it, Trump could.

you make it sound like i’m not voting for him in the primary and general.

Cruz is out after the NY comment

Happen to be a NYer and 9/11 was a nightmare. how dare he.

Trump was always no. 2, now he’s no. 1.

That’s the thing with words. Once you say them, you can never take them back.

Our enthusiasm may differ, but my vote still counts as much as the most enthusiastic Trumpster :)

Trump is a conservative, pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment, fiscal conservative, pro-military, and the list goes on.

Man you got Koolaid coursing through every vessel in your body.

Sorry I think you missed my point...No matter how relevant you feel the article is, I don’t think it is “side-bar worthy.” I look to the sidebar for stuff like a terrorist attack, an impending congressional vote, the debate thread, SOTU thread, Rally threads etc...

With all due respect, you are posting a 17-year old article/video** (which is posted multiple places on FR and likely other forums BTW) in breaking news?

Every article is deemed important by the poster, or they would not post it; however, we can’t have every article on the sidebar now can we? Or it really would not be the “Breaking News” sidebar.

**I might add that the interview was not complete, and I would have liked to have heard the entire thing...like what followed when Trump said “I hate” then video cut out right after that...after he was asked about abortion. That said, I do believe people can and do change their views over the years. From what I understand, Trump now states he is pro-life. If true, I am glad.

Ok, please accept my apology.

It’s hard keeping straight what everyone thinks, and must have taken something you said wrong.

Trump has signaled some great signs about smaller government.

His acumen is ‘the bottom line’, and I don’t think he’s going to allow things to continue as usual.

He will take over as CEO, and heads will roll, figuratively.

I honestly think he’ll surprise a lot of people.

It seems to me he’s going to have to drag a lot of “Conservatives” kicking and screaming to the finish line.

I think it was another poster who said that. My main point was that in this video Trump clearly identified being pro choice and pro gay rights as being New York values which were different from Iowa values.

Okay. Well, that may have been his views then.

On homosexual rights I don’t now his views now.

I don’t think the next president is going to turn back the laws on homosexual rights.

It would be nice if he could, but baring an E.O., it’s not going to happen.

As for abortion, I believe he wants to limit it as much as possible.

And for the first time since 1988, my vote will matter!!

I dont remember if Bush won NY. I was 20 in ‘88.

What Cruz said yesterday may have been one of the worst political comments in American history.

Dividing a country before you are even in office.

9/11 will ALWAYS be a fresh would to us in the boroughs.

I can’t believe a fellow NYC guy is going to be POTUS.

pretty wild :)

and no apology was necessary.

Here is a slightly longer version. The only difference is that Trump talks about personally disliking abortion while still being very pro choice due to his New York background and wanting to keep it legal.

If I take a person the wrong way, I want to make up for it.

My apology was necessary to me.

I agree with your take on things.

What I or other FReepers think of the Cruz New Yorker comments is immaterial. It’s what New Yorkers think that counts.

I can understand that.

Yes it is wild. And I think Trump is a common man, even though he’s worth a lot of money.

He thinks like we do. The public sees him as a straight shooter. They think he’s telling them exactly what he thinks at any given time, and they appreciate that.

They are tired of lies lies and more lies.

If he gets in and follows through, he will have solidified his name in the record books for as long as this nation survives.

He may wind up being loved like Reagan. That remains to be seen. He has an opportunity here. I pray he makes the best of it.

I’d be surprised if his answers are the same.

I think Gay marriage, he thinks it’s a state issue, but I don’t know. Clearly prolife now, and I’d doubt he’d be for gays in the military.

I would say if someone had asked me when I was younger about abortion, I would certainly be against late term abortion, because I know exactly what that entails, but abortion within days of fertilization, I’d probably had been wishy washy and say everyone is entitled to one mistake in life esp if you’re 14-16 years old and the stats show the harm to these kids, but then again I feel that society should reward the single MOM, and allow her to be rewarded for keeping the child and putting it up for adoption. If someone adopts the baby while she’s pregnant, why not allow the family to pay the girl in medical benefits, an education trust etc?
