Donald Trump Shuts Down Ted Cruz’s Criticism Of His ‘New York Values’ [VIDEO]

Cruz "insulted a lot of people," Trump said. "I've had more calls on that statement that Ted made. New York is a great place, it's got great people, it's got loving people, wonderful people. When the World Trade Center came down, I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than New York."

"[T]wo one hundred and ten story buildings come crashing down. I saw them come down. Thousands of people killed, and the clean up started the next day and it was the most horrific cleanup in the history of doing this and in construction," Trump said.

"I was down there. And I've never seen anything like it. And the people in New York fought and fought and fought and we saw more death and even the smell of death, nobody understood it. And it was with us for months, the smell, the air. And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York and loved New Yorkers. And I have to tell you that was a really insulting statement that Ted made."

Cruz did not offer a response to Trump.

And now, the much-hated, oft-maligned Megyn Kelly is suddenly a hero among Trumpsters because she and Krauthammer discussed the NYC remarks, LOL! Trumpsters are capable of flipping a 180 so quick it makes heads spin.

Liberal values matter!

"Trumpsters" can speak for themselves but I can't imagine anyone falling for that. She's still a bimbo with an affirmative action law degree and is on air because she has legs and boobs and presumably female genitalia.

She ain't no New Yorker, unless that now means limo rides between 48th street and the upper east side. If she is really from here then she interned somewhere in the midwest and learned to lose her native accent. Maybe she's from upstate. Who knows, who cares. Not worth looking up the beyotch in Wikipedia.

This thread has shown me something. Folks are showing the same bigotry for all New Yorkers that northern (D)ummycrats have for southerners, all southerners! The difference is, the people in this thread are not (D)ummycrats.

Do you have stats to back up your Abortion Capital statement? I'd like to see them related to demographics. It was a stupid tactic of Cruz, more hamhanded than his usual and Trump took the softball.

Politicians are always using emotional ties to appeal to potential voters just like admen use sex to sell cars. At least Trump is appealing to the right emotions..MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Take care of the Vets. Stop Illegal Immigration. Put Education back in the hands of the State & Local governments. Make America business friendly. I could go on...

Perhaps Cruz should have thought one step further in the chess game. When you attack a large group of people who are not homogeneous on their “values” they are going to get upset, upset with you. It didn’t take the 911 reference to make me angry. If Cruz is so done with the East they can be done with him too. He’s out of his league squandering good will he needs.

Well, I guess you must have been asleep, then, because I can't count the times in the past I've seen Freepers claim they wish NYC would drop off the face of the earth into the ocean.

But now they're suddenly pretending to be outraged at hearing the truth about one of the most pro-abortion, pro-queer, anti-gun cities in the country.

I'm still as dead-set against those liberal "values" as I ever was and I won't pretend otherwise in order to support a politician.

I posted this here for fun, months after the big boycott of her show was launched. They were hilarious in their ritual insults. And it was fun too.

I love ya Catherine for your dedication, and I do believe we are on the same side overall. But frankly and contrary to what you and others say, I haven't heard a lot of distinguishing between NYC and New York. And no, Cruz did not do that either despite the attempts here to revise and extend his remarks.

It doesn't really bother me, I slam my old hometown all the time. I'm just amazed to hear the identical thing here that (D)ummies always do to southerners.

Also, when you start saying faux outrage, I think that's going too far. The reason is that real New Yorkers are thick skinned and don't really do that ( maybe NYC weenies wearing yellow ribbons might ). I would simply assume that if you are hearing outrage here, it is not fake. Just sayin'.

P.S. I wonder if Ted is simply trying on Trump's teflon armor to see if it fits and test if he is also bulletproof. Not looking to be the case if you ask me. You can't just step in to that position, you have to earn it by being politically incorrect 24/7/365 and dealing with the incoming and surviving over and over. Remember when Trump said Ban All Muslims? Everyone including Cruz said "NO WE CAN'T!" That's exactly why this incident failed him and reeks of imitation. Gravitas and Teflon is not transferable.

Actually, I thought it was Cruz's best line of the night: "I think people in Iowa know what New York values are."

Trump has lost me - both primary and general.

A voice of sanity. I LIVED in New York in 2012. It was downright painful walking the streets on election night, hearing the cheering, etc.

Yes, they are generally citizens of Sodom, and New York is a cesspool of wickedness.

RE:”You keep mentioning deBlasio, he is the mayor of NYC. He does not represent all of NYS. “

That would be Trump when he references 9/11 as why we should support him instead of Cruz. 9/11=NYC he says, then Trump=NYC values.

Even it it was NYS they picked Hillary twice and now they got Gillibrand and Shumer.

They are not my ‘values’

If you support Cruz, that’s fine with me. I support Trump. And Cruz - without any cause - alienated a very big state that despite what people think, does have a large swath of conservative types upstate. He just sent me an email asking for money and I wrote back to him and told him to take my name off his rolodex. I wouldn’t have done that 3 days ago.

I lived in New York on election night 2012. I know who they are. It's anything-goes, a cesspool of wickedness, a wink, a nod. I have no desire to go back. Ever. The GOP is not going win New York... period... despite the good folks upstate.

No, it's Trump that's alienating a large number of supporters - those like me who until this past week supported both him and Cruz.

Cruz’s hometown is Houston, Texas, the bastion of liberalism in Texas. Known worldwide for their annual “Pride Day” which attracts millions of faggots from all over the world.

I just thought of something.

Ted is in kind of a pickle now. You know that today he is getting advice from handlers telling him to backtrack on the NY gaffe, maybe refine it to mean NYC or DeBlasio and Cuomo liberals, or maybe even an apology.

What happens to some folks in this thread if he apologizes or walks it back?

To all those here in this thread doubling down and following him off this cliff, which one of y'all is packing a parachute?

The outrage here is totally fake and is coming from those who will say anything to prop up their progressive candidate and try to tear down the conservative in the race.

Conservatives understand what Cruz meant and don’t have a problem with it. The liberal media is up in arms because Cruz is despised by them above all. Why is that, I wonder?

I refuse to take the side of the liberal media to defend the “values” of a city that elected a Communist mayor.

Cruz recently made mention of strapping on the armor of God in order to withstand the coming leftist attacks. In view of that, I think he can do without Trump’s.

Cruz’s “best line of the night” might have been just that — the best line for Trump, that is. Cruz emphasizing his disdain for New Yorkers and pissing them off doesn’t seem smart to me.

Go Trump.
