Donald Trump Shuts Down Ted Cruz’s Criticism Of His ‘New York Values’ [VIDEO]

Cruz "insulted a lot of people," Trump said. "I've had more calls on that statement that Ted made. New York is a great place, it's got great people, it's got loving people, wonderful people. When the World Trade Center came down, I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than New York."

"[T]wo one hundred and ten story buildings come crashing down. I saw them come down. Thousands of people killed, and the clean up started the next day and it was the most horrific cleanup in the history of doing this and in construction," Trump said.

"I was down there. And I've never seen anything like it. And the people in New York fought and fought and fought and we saw more death and even the smell of death, nobody understood it. And it was with us for months, the smell, the air. And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York and loved New Yorkers. And I have to tell you that was a really insulting statement that Ted made."

Cruz did not offer a response to Trump.

I bet there are a lot of NYers who might be wondering if America forgot.

If I lost someone in that I would be very upset still.

Obviously enough people forgot that they put a muslim in the WH. A muslim who wants to bring more and more of his fellow travelers in.

I would appreciate knowing someone still cared about it.

It was disgusting for Trump to USE 9/11 victims for political purposes, especially since he knew what Cruz was talking about.

Shame on Donald Trump!

Hope Trump supporters wake up before it’s too late.

Albany politics and NYC politics.

Draconian anti-Constitutional laws.

Questions? Really?

Whenever Trump slams another Republican (even if he attacks them from the LEFT, like bashing Scott Walker for not raising taxes), his fan club justifies it by saying the other candidate started the fight and was "asking for it" for daring to question Trump's heroic savior image and not getting in line to kiss his butt.

In this case, Trump drew first blood with the "not many evangelicals come out of Cuba" quip and questioning whether Cruz is "eligible" for President when he was born in Canada to an American mother. So Cruz responded in kind and fired back hard by pointing out that not many conservatives come out of liberal NYC, and that Trump himself would be "ineligible" under "BOTH parents must be native born citizens" birther argument since Trump's mother was Scottish.

But when Cruz fires back and gives Trump a dose of his own medicine, its "pathetic", of course.

“Nonsense. Unless you forgot.”

My nephew, a firefighter, missed death by minutes on 9/11, and we still have the letter from my brother-in-law explaining how the fire chief ordered the men under him to leave, while he counted each one on their way out. They all made it, except for the fire chief.

So don’t go around claiming people don’t remember, just because you want to make Trump look good.

It was disingenuous, and a cheap shot by Trump, especially when he KNEW what Cruz meant.

It’s not uncommon for “conservatives” to piss on NYC and New York. Cruz got what he deserved.

Except Cruz is not a leader, he is a lawyer/politician, make him a Supreme Court justice, a position he is most suited for.

Trump will make America great again, and at this very crucial time, he is the only one who can do it !

Cruz did not play it right, and he should have had a great response prepared as he had to know this NY question was coming. His answer made me cringe. This is not how you make friends and influence voters, Senator Cruz, and it’s little wonder he is disliked by his own institution.

Cruz made it very easy for Trump, who was born in Queens to dress him down, Cruz deserved it.
