After months of playing nice, Cruz hits Trump. Then hits him again. And again.

After months of responding to Donald Trump's attacks by deflecting them, joking about them or just plain ignoring them, Ted Cruz struck back late Tuesday with a stream of pointed criticism directed at the GOP front-runner.

At events in New Hampshire and in radio interviews, Cruz took direct aim at Trump on several fronts: tying the billionaire to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, questioning his ability to win a general election, casting doubt on his ability to serve as commander in chief and disputing his "New York values."

The swiftness and ferocity of the attacks is striking for Cruz, who said as recently as Monday that he didn't want to go to war with Trump. The two men are battling for the top spot in polls in Iowa, which host the first-in-the-nation caucuses Feb. 1. Cruz said Tuesday that Trump was clearly feeling the pressure.

Cruz took direct aim at Trump's competence. "Does a potential commander in chief know what the nuclear triad is, much less is he or she prepared and able to strengthen it and keep this country safe?" Cruz asked on "The Hugh Hewitt Show." In a Republican debate last month, Trump was asked about the nuclear triad and had trouble with the explanation.

And he jabbed Trump on the billionaire's cosmopolitan lifestyle. “I think he may shift in his new rallies to playing New York, New York, because Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values,” Cruz told Carr.

Trump is losing to Hilary in the RCP average. Cruz is beating Hilary in the RCP average and winning by 7% in the latest Fox poll. See post # 77.

The word “after” above is an oddity that popped up out of nowhere and should be ignored as if it isn’t there, lol. Poltergeists.

Meaningless. Trump will trounce Hillary when the time comes.

effective and withering

It's piddling and lame. I hope Trump nails him at the debate on the 'New York values' smear and all the 9/11 implications. Trump can educate Cruz by offering to take him to the memorial.

Given Donald’s earlier attacks on Cruz, Donald thought the truce should be over. Today, Cruz agrees.

Cruz ended the truce. Generally agree with the rest of your remarks.

Here comes the commies at the Washington Post to stir up acrimony and hatred amongst Cruz and Trump supporters. Let’s count how many useful idiots fall into the leftist trap.

I think:

Cruz wins Iowa.
Trump wins New Hampshire.
Close to a tie in South Carolina.
Cruz nearly sweeps the Southern Primaries
Trump wins more in the North East.
Cruz wins more in the West and Midwest.

I think we go to the Convention with a narrow lead by Cruz.

For the record, I’m a Cruz guy, but I can totally vote from Trump as necessary.

Interestingly, the Cruz team posted the article on Facebook.

Facts and reportage exist. There they are. Now we deal.

You’re just wrong, flat wrong about Reagan. I made several posts about how Reagan governed: solidifying Social Security, tariffs and such. Reagan was ‘America first’ while Cruz is a globalist. The Triad thing is absurd, no meaning and carries no weight.

Chuckles!
Is that why Trump has been losing to Hilary for months even while leading in the polls for the GOP primaries?
Face it, Trump has close to 100% name recognition and the general electorate still don’t like the sucker. He has zero upside.

Not true....check the timeline.....

Trump was out speaking about it WAY before Cruz ever did or said anything...

2013 interview with ABC's Jonathan Karl, Trump responded to the question of whether Cruz was eligible to run by saying, "Perhaps not.

3-23-2015 Donald Trump Goes Birther on Canadian-Born Ted Cruz

09-15-2015 Donald Trump has reversed his position on Ted Cruz's eligibility to run for president, now saying his Canadian birthplace shouldn't disqualify him.

"I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape," Trump told ABC News just before speaking at a Capitol Hill rally blasting the Iran nuclear deal.

Donald Trump: Ted Cruz's citizenship could 'be a big problem'

To those with a brain, it's obvious Donald Trump is using Alinsky-style (Democrat) tactics, attempting to cast doubt on campaign rival Ted Cruz's presidential campaign by calling into question his Canadian birth.

“(I just googled it and I was correct, Trump couldn’t guess that?)”

Trump can only speak about emotions - love, “You love me”, disgust, “Look at that face, could you vote for that?”, hate, “Fox hates me.”, etc. There is no way he can think and solve a problem on his feet.

Head to head when not really a choice at this time are fairly meaningless. Cruz is only known by 77% of Republicans so he is not known at all (really) with the public at large. His head to head with Clinton is totally meaningless.

That sounds like Trump's childish, juvenile, limited vocabulary attacks to me.

hope Trump nails him at the debate on the ‘New York values’

Trump has never nailed any good debater in any debate in his life, let alone the master debater that Cruz is. Cruz will crucify the New York loudmouth.

smear and all the 9/11 implications.

9/11 has nothing to do with New York values. New York values are Deblasio values. That is crazy far left values.
