... Traditionally, candidates who have attracted strong evangelical support have in part emphasized the need to lend a helping hand to the economically stressed and the least fortunate among us. Such candidates include George W. Bush, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.
But Cruz's speeches are marked by what you might call pagan brutalism. There is not a hint of compassion, gentleness and mercy. Instead, his speeches are marked by a long list of enemies, and vows to crush, shred, destroy, bomb them. When he is speaking in a church the contrast between the setting and the emotional tone he sets is jarring.
Cruz lays down an atmosphere of apocalyptic fear. America is heading off "the cliff to oblivion." ...

Yeah because David Brooks is a shining example of evangelical leadership?
/facepalm
Yes poor David ‘man crush on Obama” Brooks. The truth can often sound “brutal” to those who created the mess being exposed.
Did he base this analysis on the crease in Cruz’s pants?
Once he moves beyond sartorial evaluation, this Brooks guy isn’t very good.
Sometimes it is difficult to stand up for the rule of law. But people in positions of power were elected to uphold the law, and not make a million exceptions. Ted Cruz upheld the law. He was Solicitor General to make sure the case was clear. The guy should not have been a repeat offender. WE NEED TED CRUZ.
David Brooks is no conservative. His comments are absurd, utter nonsense, nothing more than a vicious attack by somebody who cannot come up with anything truthful.
Check out his crease and get back to us.
RINO GOPe Uniparty Hack checks in against Cruz.
Can’t think of a better endorsement.
In other words, he isn’t “PC-correct” enough for the Liberal gang, so it’s my job to make up your mind for you.
Oh, come on, Brooks! What about the crease in Cruz’s slacks? Get to the important stuff.
David Brooks is conservative only in the sense that he’s not parading around in a ball gag, chains, and chaps with his husband at a gay pride parade.
Does this mean Ted Cruz will not be receiving the coveted David Brooks’ endorsement?
Sumagun, I don’t know if he will be able to go on without it.
s/ for the literalist here.
This is Garbage. But David Brooks writes from the moonbat side so that is to be expected.
This whiner lives in a gated community, no doubt, or a place where the poor can’t afford to live. He has the right to tell the rest of us how to think, and we have the right to ignore him.
Cruz sounds like warnings from God about the consequences of doing things that He hates on a national level.
In order to help anyone in this country, the Washington Cartel has to be crushed. Until that is done, we are faced with the business as usual mess we have now.
Because to stomp, crush, bomb, blast, smash is what we must do in order to save our great Nation.
Go Cruz
