Judge Nap: Cruz's American Citizenship Is Settled and Established
Fox ^ | 1/11/15 | Staff

Posted on 01/11/2016 8:53:37 AM PST by VinL

Donald Trump continues to raise the issue of Sen.Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) American citizenship.

In a Fox News Sunday interview (below), Trump argued that the Canadian-born senator must "get this problem solved" before potentially running against a Democrat in the fall and facing a lawsuit.

"Does 'natural-born' mean born to the land, meaning born on the land? In that case, he's not. But nobody knows what it means because it hasn't been adjudicated and it hasn't gone to the Supreme Court," said Trump.

On America's Newsroom this morning, Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said that Cruz's American citizenship is "well-settled and established" under a law that goes back 100 years.

Napolitano said Cruz's citizenship cannot be questioned, since his mother was an American citizen when he was born.

"A human being born in another country with at least one parent who is an American citizen, who lived in the United States for at least one year during the parent's life before the birth, is an American citizen. That is exactly Ted Cruz's situation. ... [He] is a natural-born American citizen," Napolitano explained.

He agreed with Martha MacCallum that the reason for bringing this up is "political," not legal, since many voters may not know the law.

Napolitano said Cruz could benefit from getting this cleared up now, rather than later. But he noted that Trump is correct that the Supreme Court has never reviewed the law "because the issue has never come up."

Of course it is-- Donald's Anita Hill attack just shows what a pansy he is--- everyone knows-- he's losing in Iowa, so he went crying to the ref trying to get Cruz disqualified. Anita Trump not man even to fight a fair fight.

Trump's lost---and he should. DUMB politically... and now a sissy to boot. .

Sounds just like what Trump says.

Napolitano then said the issue hasn't come up because there has not been a need for it to come up.

In other words, its not an issue.

Napolitano said Cruz could benefit from getting this cleared up now . . .

Exactly how would Cruz do that? By suing himself?

The “pansies” are the thin-skinned so-called “conservatives” who cry that Trump’s response to a reporter’s question was an “attack”. The fact that this has birthed so many threads and media mentions from unhinged broadcasters like Mark Levin shows that Trump has hit a nerve and started a discussion that should be brought up NOW rather than later.

These same “conservatives” however have no problem making false allegations that Trump is a closet liberal, is a ringer for Hillary, or whatever the bullshit talking point is of the week.

You idiots made it a point that Obama should have been vetted before he was elected. But now you are all upset b/c it’s YOUR candidate that is being vetted, and the dirt is piling up!

Donald is a constitutional scholar.

He knows everything.

The judge Napolitano and Levin need to be schooled by Trump.

Have they every owned a business?

Trump has gone way beyond answering a reporters question. He led a rally where he questioned whether Cruz was a natural born citizen.

Napolitano is never correct about anything. But contrary to the good judge’s assertion, the issue is not “settled”. Blatant lie by the judge. There are laws on the books and opinions aplenty, but the issue is not settled. In other news, it appears Cruz has peaked in Iowa and is on the downslide....looks like Trump was right again.

I got one of the Cruzers to admit yesterday that he would vote for Hillary over Trump. They are unhinged! Of course, they are more conservative than the Trump supporters. Yeah, it shows. A bunch of real brain banks!

A fair fight. LOL. Nothing is fair in an election. You do whatever it takes to win. I believe some people on this forum are involved in their first primary.

Yeah, this is the same guy who came out on day one and said that Snowdon was a true patriot. This is the same judge on day one who came out emphatically and said that it is illegal against our constitution to deny anchor babies citizenship, and this is the same judge who said it was illegal for us to limit people from coming here based on their race. He also said that the Supreme would not hear the case unless there was a compelling reason like to declare someone eligible to run for office.

Hmmm. Seems like they failed to do that in a timely matter with the guy in the WH.

We’ve had a thorough accounting of this subject on this forum for over 8 years now. He may be right, he might not be right.

But Farmer John said Cruz is “naturalized” and not “natural born.” See.http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3382190/posts

I can I know who’s right; Mark Levin, Judge Napolitano, or Farmer John?

I find it so hard to believe he really thinks this..but I guess it is possible.

Hey Judge Nap - listen to the oral argument in Nguyen and Justice Thomas talking about evading whether Puerto Ricans can run for President during a hearing before you tell me this is settled law.
