Kurt Schlichter can tell it to Phyllis Schaffly, who was defining conservatism while his ass was in diapers.

GO TRUMP GO!!!!!

Not a single vote has yet been cast. We’ll see.

Why do these ‘journalists’ insist on overthinking the perfectly obvious?

Someone has to SAY IT... and Trump SAYS IT.

Like that or not, it’s certainly a change from 8 years of lame, irresolute and duplicitous conduct from our “President”.

America is ready to understand and BE understood!

The hardcore conservatives detest him as a fake con

The "Hardcore" conservatives mentioned don't care that Cruz is a confirmed lying liar. That's not something they would let pass or contort themselves into pretzels over if the real problem here is their "hardcore" politics.

the writer assumes a static condition. once nominated, candidates begin to court those voters the article doesn’t believe are there.

Then when compared to Hillary or Bernie, the choice becomes easier. Of course there is a fringe that can never be satisfied but there are far more that can and will be convinced.

A charismatic leader is what will win. An ideologue will lose this time around

We need to seriously shake up both the political elites and the establishment.

There is no-one that can do this as well as Trump.....

We need to take the Republican party back from the progressives that now populate the upper echelons at all levels....Trump can do this.....

None of the Repubs, other then Trump, will get anything of significance accomplished, as POTUS. They will all bee limited by an insane media, hyper shrill lefties, and possibly a dem congress.

Any new Repub Potus, Cruz included, will acquiesce to the status quo, and settle for incremental window dressing change.

Not Trump. He will build a wall, stop Islamo Nazis here and there, challenge unfair trade, and fix Big Gov.

All monumental tasks in themselves, requiring a monumental prsonality and will.

I love the workings of the well trained american military mind, it is a wonderful, beautiful analytical thing to watch.

The hardcore conservatives detest him as a fake con”

Nope.

Hardcore conservatives see the world as it really is, and work from there. Hardcore conservatives want to make as many gains as possible, but refuse to do a check the box approach to candidates. Otherwise, we’d all be supporting Alan Keyes.

So what do hardcore conservatives see?

We see a man who is uniquely gifted in the categories of courage, and eloquence (of a sort...he’s not Churchillian...he has his own style), and who UNIQUELY understands that celebrities will fare better in politics.

We see a man who uniquely understands that 1) having no border is suicidal, and 2) the media hates America, and should be treated that way.

These two issues are really paramount. If we don’t deal with those, then nothing else really matters in the political realm.

And Trump is dealing with those, wow, is he ever dealing with those....and as many others have noted, he is gaining traction on those issues...and not a single vote has been cast.

That is why hardcore conservatives actually love Trump.

If this is the media’s example of a “hardcore conservative” then they are even more clueless than we thought.
