Cruz won't create special deportation force
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/10/16 | PAIGE WINFIELD CUNNINGHAM

Sen. Ted Cruz insists he'll deport 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. if elected president, but won't create a special force to do it.

Cruz's opponent Donald Trump has said he would create a deportation force that will go from "door-to-door" and remove all of the illegal immigrants from the country. Pressed by CNN's Jake Tapper over whether he would do the same, Cruz said there are already agencies to do that.

"We have a door-to-door force, it's called ICE and border patrol," the Texas Republican said.

-snip-

Pressed by Tapper to explain how he would remove an estimated 11 million people currently living in the country illegally, Cruz pointed to an 11-page immigration plan released by his campaign that proposes putting in place a stronger e-verify system, securing the border and creating stronger oversight of exit visas.

But Cruz didn't explain how he'd ensure everyone already here gets removed, and at one point accused Tapper of playing a "media game" by pressing him on the question.

“During Operation Wetback, local law enforcement would have been checking out those guys you describe. That is how it should have been all these years that the laws haven’t been enforced. That will be corrected.”

That will work too, but it’s harder to implement as it requires the GOPe (i.e. Congress) to go along with it, as they’ll have to threaten money cutoffs to cities that don’t comply. But if Cruz can do that, fantastic.

I was waiting for a Cruz supporter to justify the ways of Cruz to us.

I still don’t like the idea of government NOT checking the legality of the 25 men
that hang out in front of my Home Depot every morning and don’t seem to know English.

*******************

Yep drive by any Home Depot, Lowes or major building supply facility and you’ll find lots of them
hanging out for a day laborer job. Then you have many that have landscape type operations, etc .
Many of these come and go depending upon the seasons, etc but they are here at times.

I guess Cruz thinks it is a good thing to agree with this straw man argument. I think it hurts him.

You mean Ted Cruz will not create another new federal bureaucracy to do the job that another federal bureaucracy already has?

Only a liberal would be shocked by that.

And a whole bunch of Trumpers here.

I have always wanted to pull up to the Home Depot in my black van with a couple of my buddies, all dressed in black.

I come to a screeching stop and we all jump out of the van and watch the hilarity ensue.

I agree. The only people who would ever object to a deportation force are either the illegals themselves or those that enable them.

Actually, these days, they’ll run over to you asking where to sign up to be ‘refugees’. That is the problem now...they have NO FEAR.

He had Trumps position before Trump did. E-Verify, close the border, reduce or eliminate their freebies and they will go home on their own. A similar program was used in Arizona and Oklahoma years ago and they left and came to Texas!!!!

If it really was your Home Depot, you could chase them away.

It certainly seems that way, being in Texas. Fortunately we had Voter ID in 2014, so they couldn’t vote at least.

The difference is how much do the candidates understand the anger out there. Romney through out the self-deportation line in his early Primary days and then made it clear that he wasn’t serious. Cruz is obviously much more serious, but even he didn’t seem to understand the SEETHING in this country, and particularly the Republican base. I’m sure it was a top issue to him...but no more so than gun control, taxes, etc. Trump launched his campaign on it and has yet to waffle, at all, which is why I’m with him.

Probably not in Texas, if they get a decent lawyer:

Mouth without might.

That is the problem with professional bloviators being in positions of power. They want to rush in the diplomats before the war is finished.

That is the same problem we have seen with previous administrations. Clinton dealing with the Middle East. Bush 2 dealing with open borders. Obama dealing with both the Middle East and open borders.

They spew a lot of rhetoric on what they will do to secure the border yada yada yada, but they fail to put any significant muscle behind the rhetoric to make it happen.

They do not want to put any muscle behind their words because that would imply committment, and committment would mean that they actually have to act. And acting could upset other factions. And they don’t want to deal with those other factions. So they run the same ole political pea-under-a-shell game, window dressing — a lot of talk, a lot of mouthing, and little might to act.

Nobody was taking illegal/legal immigration seriously until Trump came on the scene. For Ted Merkel Cruz it was 500% increase in h-1B visas and giving Obama unilateral authority to increase immigration through Obamatrade (basis his TPA vote... sneaky, devious and a knife in the back of American workers)
I know, never mind all that he is tub-thumping religion.

Cruz didn’t just support the massive increase in the broken H-1B program. HE WROTE THE U. S. Senate AMENDMENT TO DO IT. Tossing Americans like Disney workers out of a job was Cruz’s position for 2 years until Trump came out against H-1B and “Principled Conservative” Cruz flopped on the issue.

"Nobody was taking illegal/legal immigration seriously until Trump came on the scene."

Apparently you have been out of the loop. Ever hear of the "wall" debates and passage of the legislation to build it so many years ago? Ever hear of the Minutemen in Arizona (I was one)? Ever hear of the wall being defunded by the Dim Congress? While all that and more was going on, Trump was producing his stupid, "Apprentice" show. He said nothing about it at the time. Trump is a flip-flopping opportunist.

My bona fides: I was member of FAIR as far back as 1987. When in Navy, living close to the border in mid-80's, I had illegals going through my gate to further their trek north. There were many Congress-critters who spoke out loudly about the illegal invasion even back then. I could go on, but do your own research. Trump is late to the party.

BTW, ever hear of the California double fence that decreased illegal crossings by about 95%? I've posted entire articles how effective it's been. Do some research at FAIR and CIS. Also, Trump is not going to get Mexico to pay for a double fence or wall. We can afford it ourselves since it doesn't have to encompass the entire border. Only needs to be in areas that have towns/staging areas with highways close to the border. There are hundreds and hundreds of miles of desert wasteland that are impassable because of the distance from the border to a highway.

Sheesh, this issue has been at the forefront of Congressional committees and meetings and public understanding for decades now. The Don did NOT bring this to national attention.

IMO, another recent ding, aside from his ‘more Amendments’ proposal: stronger e-verify system.

Yet another “shift it onto the back of XYZ”, where XYZ = biz. Just another way to scapegoat govt NOT DOING ITS JOB.

Stop the problem at the FRONT, not the MIDDLE/END. Terminate welfare, go after ‘sanctuary cities’/licenses/in-state tuition, DEPORT (and TRACK), raise a tax on international $$ orders. Just a FEW of these and you’d see an exodus like no other.

Not like these criminals are HIDING, they’re all around, in our face

I agree that Trump put immigration on the main stage and it became the main attraction. However, I am a person that firmly believes a leopard cannot change his spots and a persons past contains a historical record of their true morals or beliefs.

Let’s take for instance Hillary. She was fired from her first job, a Watergate investigator/lawyer, for lying, dishonesty and with holding evidence pertaining to the case. Her morals and principles have not changed one iota in the 45 years since.

I do not trust Trump in that his historical past does not jive with what he is saying now. I do not care that he had to deal with scoundrels in NY in order to do business. Some of those business deals turn my stomach.

I have what I call the “foxhole test”. If I am in a foxhole on the front lines in a seemingly lost situation who do I want in that hole with me, Trump or Cruz? Classic Battle of the Bulge.

Who do you want in that hole?

This is so stupid.

We already have a "deportation force."

It's called ICE..

And Ted wants to enforce the law.

He's a madman I tell you. A madman.
