Ted Cruz Draws Contrast With Trump On Federal "Deportation Force," "We Don't Live In A Police State"
RCP ^ | 1/10/16 | RCP

Creating a contrast with Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz ruled out the use of a new federal "deportation force" to seek and deport illegal immigrants.

-snip-

JAKE TAPPER: I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but it is a simple question, yes or no. Will you have people going door to door rounding people up?

TED CRUZ: We don't have any system that knocks door to door every person in America, that is not how the American law enforcement system works... We don't live in a police state. We do have law enforcement, how do we catch people? We catch them through things ike E-verify, we catch them through things like the criminal law enforcment system.

Yes, a deportation force that was used successfully by Eisenhower. It was not a nationwide police force at that time.

He never did. Also enforcing immigration law doesn’t make us a police state it makes us a nation of laws rather than one of the whims of men.

How many different sources for this same story can a Trumpbot post? That is the real question. LOL

It would make zero sense to create a new force to go door to door to deport illegals until the border has been secured. Revolving door deportations are a waste of time and money. Cruz will build the wall, prioritize deportations by criminal offense, and partner with states and cities to deport the most dangerous illegal aliens first. As a secure fence of wall is completed, the the worst of the worst will continue to be targeted.

Millions of illegals will self deport over time, once a secure border becomes a reality and is no longer an empty promise. It would be stupid to mass deport millions of people, most of whom would just walk back into the country with little threat of apprehension. I suspect that Trump would take pretty much the same approach, despite his tendency to articulates his strategy in terms that simpletons can grasp.

I am increasingly coming to the conclusion that the Trump phenomena is a cult of personality. There is no significant difference between the positions of Cruz and Trump on immigration, but some people must buy that Trump brand, regardless of the contents of the product.

This is probably just yet another case of a media manufactured argument between Trump and Cruz that too many here fall for.

Before you buy into it, be sure to check out the EXACT quotes and questions being asked. I have seen numerous embellishments of both of these men’s comments.

Law enforcement goes door to door for some things in narrow areas.

No one plans to have immigration forces to go to EVERY door, come into our homes, and check all of our paperwork to see if we are here legally.

The beginning of the article has this:

“Creating a contrast with Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz ruled out the use of a new federal “deportation force” to seek and deport illegal immigrants.”

Not that I am against a federal “deportation force” since deportation is already the law, and Cruz says he will enforce laws that are on the books, not just the ones he agrees with. I suppose since he doesn’t agree with a deportation force he chooses not to enforce the law.

When did Trump ever say he would have a “deportation force” going “door to door”?

Of course Trump never said that, this is more Trump vs Cruz fighting the media is (very successfully) creating. I'm amazed on how many people here are sucked into it. Trump and Cruz do need to state their differences to the voters, and it is ok that the do not agree 100%. This in house fighting is out of hand and must be amusing to the democrats.

But police did go from door to door in Boston looking for the terrorists

Which so happens to be unconstitutional, illegal and unlawful as plenty of human rights activists pointed out at the time.

"We’ve already got a “deportation force” but Obama won’t let them do their jobs. Let’s get back to enforcing the law before adding more people to the federal payroll."

Yet this very simple, hard fact will be completely ignored in the joyful rush to another dishonest Cruz smear.

Note "new". Cruz ruled out creating a "new deportation force" when we already have one -- called the Border Patrol and ICE.

I guess we lived in a police state back in the 1950’s - when we rounded up all the Wetbacks and sent them home.

Going “door to door” would most likely entail violating citizens rights of freedom from illegal search and seizure. I believe in deporting illegals, I believe those who have violated laws should not get to come back and coming here illegally is a violation of our law. I also believe this should be done legally without violating citizens rights. There should be no searches without warrants. When illegals are exposed by anything from e-verify to a traffic stop or government agency they should be arrested and deported. Where there is just cause a search a warrant should be issued and our Constitution followed. We don’t need any more “agencies”, we have more than enough now, follow the law, do the job.

Trump said he would have a deportation force which I believe is a ramped up ICE dept and I have never heard him say he would go door to door.

A “Deportation Force” would be like TSA or e-Verify: It would be used against normal US citizens.

How many times have you seen Muslim TSA agents screening regular Americans? I see it all the time.

They need to build a wall, turn off the incentives (welfare, anchor babies, etc), and end catch & release. That will effectively deport 30 million illegals while leaving us alone.

The problem is that the Supreme Court would likely block mass deportation.

Our founding fathers are spinning in their graves. I think Cruz, being a strict Constitutionalist, is better prepared to enforce our rights and rule of law. And he will work to end the political correctness which has infected our society and Criminal Justice system. I think Trump will too, although I’m not convinced he is as strict as Cruz. Anyway, we don’t need Trump and Cruz to be putting each other down and nitpicking over the same ideas.

The question that should be asked is: Do illegals have any rights under our Constitution and rule of law. I say NO! Only citizens have rights. (Further more, is any one citizen above the law. Again I say NO! The same rights should be afforded to all citizens.)

The current administration says otherwise and fails to enforce our existing laws when they do not agree with them. In addition, they have established their new laws by bypassing the legislative process. As a result and through political correctness and special interests we have allowed our government to put the rights of non-citizens and special interests above those of it’s own citizens. This is wrong and needs to end. (Hopefully without a civil war.)

When people enter without invitation, they should be treated as illegal invaders, not citizens, and deported or charged with crimes if they have violated our laws. They certainly should have no right to expect welfare, medical assistance, or other benefits reserved for our citizens. Bottom line: They have no standing or right to question our rule of law nor expect to be afforded the same rights as citizens.

When the invaders and their attorneys learn they have no legal rights in our justice system, they will apply to enter on our terms, not theirs. For those that are caught without invitation, I would like to see Cruz or Trump enforcing the immigration laws before building a bigger fence. I would like to see our electorate represent us, the American citizen, for a change. We have rights too, you know.

Clean out the illegals & start like this:

1. Western Union outlet locations. They are there sending cash back south of the border.
2. The border itself
3. Welfare rolls in every state
4. DMV in every state. They are issuing licenses!!!
5. School enrollment records. We are hiring ESL teachers because of these illegal children!!!
6. Jails & prisons
7. Hospital records—especially emergency & obstetrics
8. Find all the people who have ‘overstayed’ their visas.
9. Demand the information from the Social Security Administration of ALL the ‘non-matches they have on records. MOST of those are illegals. (BTW- Obama is using a SS number that doesn’t pass the E-Verify system)

These are 9 easy places to start finding the illegals. Round them up—send them back. I am ALMOST in favor of chipping them so we can scan them like a lost dog & tell that they are violating again by returning to the USA. ALMOST———

The drain on the American taxpayer has got to stop.

Truman & Eisenhower sent back over 11 million illegals after WWII. I think there are close to 55 million illegals here now.

Actually, I think there is a direct relationship with undocumented immigration and the rise of the police state. The more that come in, the more police state. It’s not the other way around.
