Charles Koch bemoans lack of influence over 2016 race

Charles Koch is “disappointed” with the line-up of Republican candidates in the 2016 cycle, and is surprised by the lack of influence he and his brother have wielded so far. In an interview with the Financial Times, the billionaire businessman and philanthropist, said he’ll eventually support a candidate who he agrees with on some things with, but that it’s hard to get excited. He said a list presented to all the candidates about the Kochs' political arm's priorities “doesn’t seem to faze them much. You’d think we could have more influence.”

The Koch brothers need to be shipped off to Mars.

My suggestion to Charles Koch and his brother is to STOP buying elections and START running for office.

If they come to Florida I'll vote for them... or they can run for office from the State they live in.

We need people with talent - talent for something OTHER than getting reelected and giving speeches. Congress is a good start Charles Koch... get off your easy chair and throw your hat in the ring. We need good people.

They sound more like Obama every day.

“Asked about Mr. Trump’s plan to bar foreign Muslims from entering the United States, Mr. Koch said that such a policy was antithetical to what America represents.”

Walker jumped out under pressure from the Donor Class in order to try and shore-up support for Jeb

Walker jumped out because he was polling at 0% and was already in debt, and didn't want to damage his brand any more. He's jumped out of races before when he saw it wasn't going to happen.

They’ll spend the money on Dem and RINO down-ticket candidates to block Cruz/Trump policies in congress.

Pure BS. They know perfectly well Cruz or any one of the other RINO nitwits will do anything they ask. And they know Cruz doesn't have the balls to "carpet bomb" anyone.

The last line says it all:

save for Donald Trump, who has put a thorn in their plans to buy a White House that pushes their self-enriching agenda

Remember this the next time the charge of buying influence pops up. They get one vote each, just like the rest of us. The money helps with people who already agree. When they don’t agree, the money is wasted.

Who owns your candidate?

TED CRUZ

Ted Cruz is the junior U.S. Senator from Texas who made a name for himself by reading Green Eggs and Ham on the Senate floor as part of a symbolic filibuster of Obama’s Affordable Healthcare Act. He was also one of the 47 signatories of a letter sent to Iran stating that President Obama lacked the authority to negotiate with Ayatollah Khomenei.

More recently, he has led a weak coalition of congressmen aiming to shut down the federal government for the second time in as many years. His objective — and one of his major campaign platforms, in addition to repealing Obamacare and the Iran Deal — is to defund Planned Parenthood.

Corporate and other Special Interest donors (top 5):

Woodforest National Bank $75,200
Morgan Lewis LLP $68,850
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher $52,950
Pachulski, Stang et al $41,000
Jennmar Corp $40,850

Super PAC/”Dark Money”:

Ted Cruz’s campaign actually has four super PACs, all funded by Robert Mercer, a Long Island hedge fund magnate and climate change denier. Combined, they raised $31 million in the first four weeks of his campaign. Contributors to these super PACs include:

What I’m sad about is that it’s a geezer face off. Trump and his likely opponent, Bernie, are older gentlemen - well, actually, neither of them is a gentleman - and reflect a total incapacity to understand current problems. And they’re both running as personalities, not as people with real ideas (although Bernie’s are more real and he has more of a track record than does Trump).

And of course, if the other 70+ person, Hillary, turns out to be the Dem candidate, she’s obviously running as the female version. The GOP had some good possible young candidates with real ideas (Scott Walker, for example) but the old guys have the money.
