U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Wednesday that China should take the lead in tackling North Korea after that country alarmed the international community by saying it successfully tested a hydrogen nuclear device.
"China has total control," Trump said on Fox News. "They have total control over North Korea, and China should solve that problem. And if they don't solve the problem, we should make trade very difficult for China."

China is prepared to be as brutal as necessary. Killing 50,000 or 100,000 North Koreans would not bother them and would enhance their reputations as bad-asses. Can you imagine if a Republican president killed so much as the night janitor at their nuclear facility? (His name is Sae Lee. He has seven children who will now starve. In 24 hours we will know more about him than we know about Obama.)
No serious American effort can succeed without either Chinese action of calculated inaction.
China is tremendously threatened by the potential unification of North and South Korea under a southern (pro-US) government. They will commit any amount of resources to ensure that doesn’t happen. So unless the US is prepared to go into a shooting war that could cost 50,000 US casualties we shouldn’t do anything militarily. (Let’s face it, few in the US thinks North Korea is worth even one American life. China knows this. North Korea knows this.)
Forcing China to rein in North Korea is a brilliant move. It puts no US forces at risk and it potentially scales down the brutality endured by the NK people.
I think his Doctors told Trump that he must say “China” several times a day.
The Kim Dynasty exists on Chinese sufferance. The moment China stops feeding it, the leadership is finished, and a succession battle begins, pretty much ending the nuclear program.

Help Japan and South Korea nuke up. Maybe Taiwan too.
Keep a couple of ships in the region.
Place heavy tariffs on Chinese goods, and restrict their access to their assets in this country.
