Turkey must accept that it needs Israel, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday, as the two countries seek to thrash out a deal on normalizing ties.
NATO member Turkey was a key regional ally of Israel until the two countries fell out over the deadly storming by Israeli commandos in 2010 of a Turkish aid ship, the Mavi Marmara, bound for Gaza.
AFP reports that Erdogan further raised hackles in Israel with his sometimes inflammatory rhetoric towards the Jewish State. But the atmosphere has transformed following the revelation last month the two sides were making progress in secret talks to seek a rapprochement, he says.
"Israel is in need of a country like Turkey in the region," Erdogan said in remarks to Turkish reporters published in leading dailies Saturday.
"And we too must accept that we need Israel. This is a reality in the region," said Erdogan.

It has to do with that little spat with Russia. Turkey has been thrashing around looking for alternative sources of oil and natural gas, as they are so dependent on Russia for those items and they are scared Russia will cut them off. Israel is in the process of building the means to export natural gas after the discovery of large deposits off the Israeli coast.
I don’t think Israel will sell Turdo anything.
He made Israel apologize, and Bibi gave in and Turdo still kept up the humiliation.
Comeuppance is due
May have looked around and realized that Obama was the only friend he had left, and that things were likely to change in about a year. He really burned some bridges with the Russians, and Putin knows how to play hardball.

There’s a bear on his front stoop and his rear doorstep ... Israel makes mil stuff that he needs but can no longer get after his shenanigans - sending the ship to Gaza. He also wants in on the Leviathan oil and gas fields which Israel pretty much controls. Else all he has for income is tourism - that’s really working well for Egypt - except Turkey has no Giza Plateau. He’s hurting.
Hudna + Taqqiya = Erdogan (Mohammed)
His bacon is fried..
I don’t believe Israel considers Saudi or Turkey as enemies—at least not any kind of current threat. From everything I have read, Iran is by far the one they are more concerned with. Hence ISIS may be playing a useful role in the opinion of Israel and Saudi.
OF course Bibi hasn’t called me recently to tell me what is on his mind.
Egypt now is what Turkey used to be: sane and opposed to terrorism.
Yes. Very few here understand the implications of this on ISIS and on us. Sunnis, our “allies”, don’t attack Israel - they attack us. Shias aren’t attacking us. They’re after Israel. Something’s got to give soon.
