The strangers carrying the whisper of danger arrived in the vast territory of the Harney Basin just before the holidays.
Ammon Bundy once helped his father repulse the government in an armed showdown on a Nevada desert. He was Tasered for his effort.
Ryan Payne, an electrician from Montana, joined that same standoff and boasted of organizing civilians into sniper squads that drew a bead on federal agents.
And not long ago, Jon Ritzheimer worried the FBI with his threatening rants against Muslims in Arizona and elsewhere.
Now, the men say, they are in Burns to help Dwight and Steven Hammond.
The Hammonds are father and son ranchers, due to report to federal prison on Monday. They were convicted in 2012 of arson for lighting public land on fire adjacent to their ranch land south of Burns. They have been imprisoned once and must return for an additional term after federal appellate judges said they had been illegally sentenced the first time.

Lengthy article with references to Bundy ranch incident in Nevada.
Seems like the militiamen are threatening locals. I wouldn’t take too kindly to them coming in and setting up roadblocks and knocking on people’s doors demanding to know why they don’t want them there.
Yeah, sounds like it from the tone of this piece. They’d best take care not to lose respect earned at the Bundy ranch incident.
Is this really true or just a hit piece by lefty journos.
The state of Oregon is currently cleaning out the bank account of people who merely withheld service to Sodomites. Where’s the militia on that?
It’s a hitpiece by the leftists at the Oregonian.
It’s Oregon, so possibly lefty journalism at its worst.
I’d read this.
Sentencing a father and son for a so-called crime that had already been paid for with their imprisonment.
The feds, AKA, someone, wants their land and must think they’ll get it, if these two are ruined by imprisonment.
Lean on the leaders of who is in charge of the feds at this location.
It’s Oregon. Don’t go there.
Who in their right mind would claim to have set up sniper positions vs the BLM and give their name to media? Perhaps a double agent?
Don’t know if it’s made there, but I’m gonna think twice before buying anymore Oregon chainsaw parts.
Better known as “The Peoples Republic of Oregon”
Stay as far away as possible.

A lot of useless and illegal bravado. They’d get better results from raising funds for Cruz or Trump, picketing sanctuary churches and leftist newspapers, giving to Free Republic, etc.

It’s a hit piece, a major hit piece.

You could be right. But the caution expressed by some of the comments was intended to be constructive. Unfortunately, there are conservative groups out there with more guts than brains (just as other groups are all brains and no guts).

Caution is the key word.
Hit piece or not, there’s nothing conservative about moving into a dispute and threatening people in their own neighborhoods who may not appreciate your presence there.
Somebody mentioned double-agent in anther post. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit considering the impetuous statements he’s making.
Totally agree!
The farmer and the cowboy should be friends.
