H-E-B grocers in Texas have put signage on their doors barring openly carried handguns, while Kroger says they will simply abide by the new law which will allow openly carried handguns, beginning January 1.

HEB still allows conceal carry so the robber would be smart to not Rob either store.
Thing=thin. *sigh*
I go to Texas on business a few times a year. Used to make a point of shopping at HEB because they are a good success story. Not any more.
I’m with you. If I’m in a situation where I’ll need a gun, I’d rather he/she who would do my family, friends, or anyone else harm not know that I’ll be shooting back. On rare occasions when I’m in the woods and openly wearing a gun, I’ll go into a store (normally in a rural area), but not very often.
Are you talking about HEB? It doesn’t describe any one that I have been in. The store where you live must need to get a new manager.
That is probably me or one of my friends you see at the Smith’s on Lemmon Drive. If we are going to the outback it is open carry time. Oh and we often have cammo on!!!!

Yeah, I’ve probably seen you crazies at Smith’s just waiting for a reason to open up on somebody. LOL! If I see someone OC, I’m probably checking to see what make and model and cal. That is all. I’m not staring at you. Outback as in the steak place or outback as in the boonies. I thought we all OC’d on the boonies.

Unfortunately HEB has the grocery store market sewed up in the San Antonio area. Your only other choices are WalMart, Target, and Whole Foods. I’d love it if a Kroger came to town (or Safeway, Albertsons, etc).
Personally I’ll continue to carry concealed. No point in making yourself one of the 1st targets for the bad guys. I’d rather be the one to surprise them.
My hubby agrees with you.
Where as I have no problem with big iron, on my hip :)
Is your HEB an HEB Pantry? Those decrepit stores are an embarrassment to the brand name, and should all be shuttered.
The HEB’s and HEB Plus are nice stores....at least all of the ones I’ve shopped, in the Central to SE TX areas.
“NO OPEN CARRY IN THIS STORE! Cleanup of the isles after the bedwetters see them is taking up too much employee time.”
lol..cammo or not depends on what we are headed out to do. Don’t waste good cammo when we are gold mining.
I will continue to carry concealed rather than openly. I don't want perps to know that they need to take me out first because I am armed.
The business exemption basically makes the open carry law toothless.
Not just HEB, but also Safeway-Randall’s and Whole Foods (maybe more).
Libs are mocking those who feel the need to carry guns as they buy vegetables.
No one seems to be mentioning the Houstonians who’ve been robbed, murdered, and carjacked in grocery store parking lots.
Leaving inside your car won’t help you when you are attacked trying to get into your car in broad daylight.
Then you go right ahead and make that insightful recommendation to your TX Legislators.
HEB!
In my town, they have kept one of their stores at a reasonable size, fighting the trend to super size. In fact, they are adding gas pumps at the existing store so I never have to go cross town to the mega store.
